Vile company

Horrible company to work for, it’s like a cult, if your face fits you are fine, you can’t have an opinion or be yourself. They are bullies and will do anything to get you out. They always make you feel as you are doing something wrong.Stay well clear on working for Chanel, unless you have no opinion or back bone.Really nasty horrible company would definitely not recommend.

Pros

None

Cons

Micro manage, long hours, no praise, area managers get away with anything, training is horrific, wages are really bad.

Stay clear

The condition and environment were beyond horrible. The long hours were draining and by all means this is a place I will be not attending because of the conditions

Bad experience

Chanel is a good company like many but the people who work for this company they are the the best, it's better to work for a different company like Richemont or maybe try Chanel in a different country.

Stressful

Account Manager was impossible to work with made me feel incompetent at times even though I was hitting targets and had great interaction with customers. Managers micromanage everything you do yet don’t do the same when it comes to themselves.

Pros

Training staff discount after probation

Cons

Long hours poor pay poor management

Fast paced

Fantastic perks, training is fabulous. Lots of personal development. Working in store can be challenging as you have different management styles. Long opening hours especially at Xmas

Great commission, with sales pressure

Great opportunity to learn about the luxury market, my counter was within Boots so had lots of support from them. Management could micromanage but gave support when needed. Overall a great place to learn and can earn a lot of commission if hitting sales targets

Run away

The worst job of my life in customer service !! During the interview everything seems fine and also on your first day however you will notice people some people are very stressed and an awkward atmosphere in the office . The office are constantly cold and everyone complaints about it however because one of the manager is hot then the window has to be left open until you catch a cold so he doesn’t care about other people ( selfish ) Training is non existant there is no structure it’s more like just get on with it ( excuses after excuses in regards to training ) The job it’s self isn’t hybrid if you work for OB although advertised because the manager who runs the group live at work so he expect his puppets to also reside at work . In regards to commission it’s isn’t discussed during meeting so there is no transparency . It’s not worth the stress fund something else .

A challenging and disappointing workplace

Throughout my time with Chanel I was immensely proud to represent this wonderful company. However the attitude is always because Chanel have given you a job you should be grateful and there is never any recognition for the efforts and dedication rendered.Targets were generally just out of reach, so full commission potential is rarely attainable. Most other beauty houses I have worked for provide free product allocation, not the case here, you are able to purchase discounted products every 3 months upto a maximum of £175. Management offered little support and I seen a lot of dedicated and talented people leave the company because it was not what it once was, and they were allowed to leave, with less than desirable members of staff remaining.

Pros

Globally recognised company, nice commission schemes

Cons

No recognition for your efforts, outdated management and attitudes Far too staid for a company of this level

Don’t be fooled by the brand. It’s a terribly run company with toxic people

The only good thing about this position is the free products or discounted stuff you get. Plus the training program is quite good as you get to stay in a nice Mayfair hotel. However the people that work for this company and truly toxic and horrible. Everybody thinks they are something special because they work for ‘Chanel’. Upper management used to ignore the team when they walked onto the counter and only speak to the business manager and just completely ignore you. They do nothing for your career and if your not someone who sucks up to the managers and ‘fits’ in then you won’t get anywhere. Prepared to be fake if you want to progress. Lots of other great brands to work for in beauty, stay clear.

Pros

Free and discounted products

Cons

Terrible management, Bullying, horrible people everywhere throughout the company, no progression, horrible competitive environment

High paced and rewarding job

I thoroughly enjoyed working for Chanel for 18 years. I learnt a lot about management skills, customer service and hitting targets. It is fast paced, highly rewarding and I loved the healthy competition of building growth of a counter.
