The worst decision I’ve ever made was joining Charlotte Tilbury. There’s a lot of unorganisation and pretty much no streamlined processes which means it’s so hard to get things across. Also super high turnover

Great incentives

Good commission structure and incentives however would be good if commission was guaranteed and not purely target based as sometimes you feel un rewarded for a months hard work

Management were awful, fraudently adding sales that were extra at the end of the week on their personal sales. Its all about your look and how you fit in with the Managment team, don't speak up or you'll be out the door, listen to their unprofessional comments about staff and people within the store. Not cool

Stay way! Toxic engineering environment.

Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 12 May 2023

As a software engineer in this role, my manager was hardly present and seemed to lack any effective leadership skills. The worst part was the hiring manager and manager, who had a habit of hiring people who could barely code and this ended up slowing down the workloads of the other engineers. The expectation was that I come into the office 3 days a week, which was a bit restrictive. The pay was not great, and I found it frustrating that the head of tech makes daily poor decisions and seems to lacks any leadership qualities. Employee retention was low, which was surprising given the company seemed to have high expectations for their employees. The tech stack was outdated, which made things difficult and created unnecessary challenges. Overall, this is a role not worth considering unless you are desperate for a job.

Competitive & fast paced

Great experience, great pay, lovely brand but very sales oriented.You wouldn’t often do makeovers but more sales based there’s a lot of competition as it’s a big team.And lots of managers on the counter that do micro manage you, personality isn’t allowed ..Only the Charlotte way is allowed.Great experience on your cv thought and bonuses aswell also allocation is every few months for new products launched.

Incredible place to work

Such a great place to work. Everyone is friendly and helpful and the management really do care. The head office is London is so beautiful as well, you get really excited to go in!

Team are lovely but you get given high sales targets which are not met easily.

Sales targets are very high and demotivating. Micro managed even down to how many of each product in each category we should be selling. The products are good but staff not treated well at all including management are not appreciated.Lots of pressure, often late going home and hard work and overtime is not recognized, more a norm. Cool company to work for but not a glamourous job.

Wasn’t a very fun environment to work in. It felt like being back at school as colleagues were always gossiping and trying to get people in trouble. The manager had openly said she had lied on her CV and had never worked as a manager prior to that role.

Horrendous place of work

I was bullied from day one when I worked on that counter. A very cliquey atmosphere and very biased. Poor management and very difficult to communicate with senior members of management. I put in two grievance complaints in the space of a month and nothing got done about it. I only worked for the company for three months and in the end I walked out and never went back. Not normally the way I would go around things but it was just too unbearable. The only upside was the beautiful products and the salary isn’t bad for a makeup artist role.
