Ok

Keep in mind that it's a government body, so expect lots of box ticking and other bureaucratic nonsense. Goal posts ( including work hours) subject to change with every new member of management. Make sure you are ok with this before applying.

Pros

Sick pay, government pension 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

Cons

Calls from supervisor outside of work hours/micro managing

Reasonable

Reasonable employer, sometimes stressful due to nature of work and changing government policies. Work depends on department, home /working split. Specialised computer systems depending on department

Nice Place to Work

I have worked for both Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire Councils in their school holiday hubs, encouraging children to get involved in sporting activities.

Productive and fun workplace

As an employee you are set clear goals and tasks, and management is very easily contactable should there be any issues throughout the day. Good working relationships with other colleagues and genereally a nice atmosphere to work.

Watch out for the annual pay increment

Ok Beware of the annual pay increment. It can't be accessed for the first 12 months and may be even longer. That means that you don't see an increment for the first 2 years, so factor that in

Ok

OK place, good people but constantly under pressure to save money, job cuts etc. Socially responsible and focused on customers and communities. Work environment was pleasant, car parking free with positive management.

Very rewarding job.

• I work within a team and we are responsible for cleaning all classrooms, corridors, halls and toilets. We all have our own areas to take responsibility for. I’m also required to control my own stock use and admit stock request forms as required.

Pros

Shcool Holidays I'm not at work.

Cons

None

Very friendly and helpful workplace.

We would go out to a rural area to advise people on recycling. I learnt how to ask the right questions and how to use the right approach to the people we spoke to on their doorstep. The management approach was very encouraging and did not set us any tasks that we thought were unfair or unachievable in the timeframe. The team I worked with were extremely friendly and had no major issues whatsoever. The hardest part of the job was the weather. Working outside all day, it isn't ideal when the weather takes a turn for the worst! The most enjoyable part of the job was having a shift with people who were cooperative when being approached. it makes getting the point across a lot easier.

Pros

flexible hours

Cons

waiting around on certain days for management to assign us a task

Challenging

Good environment and training. Chance for promotion. Very good working conditions although tedious and unrelated paper exercises but a downer on things.

Pros

Excellent conditions

Cons

Sold off
