Completely disorganized company
Policy Administrator (Former Employee) - Glasgow - 27 July 2020
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWorking for Chubb as a Policy Administrator. These people have no clue how to work productively, they don't know the words "Continuous Improvement", "Quality Control", "Process Improvement" etc.. I don't know how this company has survived up to now. They have no Knowledge Base in place, no real Process documented, the team leaders have no clue what is going on in their own team, everyone's cheating and everyone hates their job. It's a pitty cause the people are definitely nice people, they're not mean or anything like that, but they just have no clue on how to run Operations and Processes.
Pros
in the city centre
Cons
everything

I wouldn't go back
Policy Administrator (Former Employee) - Glasgow, Glasgow - 30 October 2020
There is a hostile and discriminatory environment which management will do nothing about if it will hinder short-term productivity in any way. There were frequent instances of harassment and workplace bullying which the management were all too happy to ignore or to disregard as oversensitivity on the part of those who complained. Managers blatantly disregard any suggestions for continuous improvement, despite improvement of processes being an important element of the job description. Middle management are clueless about the processes of day-to-day tasks, never having done those tasks themselves. You will be pigeon-holed into doing one or two monotonous tasks all day, every day, for months on end, at the expense of being fully trained in all aspects of what your position actually entails. Turnover in my team was extremely high and very few people seemed satisfied with their jobs - we were seen as no more than the sum of our potential output and treated like robots. Anyone who was even remotely new to the company - by which I mean, had been there for less than two or three years - was treated as cannon fodder for the undesirable tasks that their "more senior" counterparts in the same position just didn't feel like doing.
Pros
Excellent pension scheme and good benefits
Cons
Everything except the excellent pension scheme and good benefits

Good place to work - if you have the right management
Digital Marketing Manager (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 4 May 2020
Chubb is full of great people and the facilities are fantastic. When the team management was changed then the culture took a turn for the worst. In summary, it's a great place to work if the team culture is right.

Boring job with most people counting down until retirement
IT Consultant (Former Employee) - Crawley, West Sussex - 3 May 2020
Working at Chubb is like going from one disaster to another! There doesn’t seem to be any real thought or planning put into anything, just wait for something to catch fire then run around like headless chickens looking for someone to point the finger of blame at and desperately hoping that someone can fix the problem.
Management is a problem or the lack of it; it’s all top down management with middle managers just there really to tick boxes and make sure the drones are churning away at the daily grind.
You will find yourself doing the same jobs day in and day out as they like to pigeon hole each little activity so you don’t get any variety in your job. You will have no exposure to other departments and technology as each team likes to keep to themselves.
There is no sense of team or feeling part of a family @ Chubb Crawley – they just want you to sit at your desk for 8 hours a day and just do what you are told; and this brings me on to the last point terrible recruitment, and not hiring people that will work well together just box ticking.

Productive and Fun workspace
Internship (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 27 March 2020
The office was well laid out with individual desks and lots of space. you could stand at the desk which was a real bonus. Really good cafeteria and excellent staff and management team to guide you.

Terrible company
Complaints Handler (Former Employee) - Glasgow City Centre, Glasgow - 12 February 2020
The management is young and inexperienced.
They are all blonde Barbie dolls who have absolutely no idea what to do.
You may not work independently without having your work checked for over and over again. A company where you really don't want to work.

Jobs at Chubb Insurance
Hostile
A&H Handler (Former Employee) - Glasgow - 4 February 2020
Very unwelcoming environment. The office is very quiet and unsociable, the training is nearly non-existent and what little there is, it is outdated and does nothing to teach you the actual role. The environment is cold and unfriendly.

Chaotic
Works Coordinator (Former Employee) - Blackburn, Lancashire - 24 November 2019
The work load to person ratio is completely unmanageable. They would say well have a day dealing solely with disputes but you have in excess if 80 emails and very urgent stuff coming in, it was chaotic and the amount of staff off with stress related illness was excessive but there was not.much support its is a kind if do what you can mentality

Interesting but sometimes stressful
Insurance Underwriting Assistant (Former Employee) - Manchester - 14 May 2019
Everyone i worked with was very friendly and management were very supportive. It was stressful because it was very busy and sometimes the job included getting shouted at by insurance brokers from other companies.

Fantastic work place with great people from top to bottom. Many opportunities for progression - often internal promotions. Positive day to day ethos encouraged.

Slave Drivers
Underwriter Customer Services (Former Employee) - Birmingham - 10 February 2019
terrible place now.
not enough actual underwriters (thats the people who actually get the business in and look after the existing books)
Too many mid and upper level flag waving (wonder what you do all day) positions while the grunts do all the work and take none of the glory or the none of bonuses that elude lower ranking staff.
Its all excessive workload "by stealth" and management still expect you to be on your game sticking to agreed SLAs. There is pressure "at busy times" then there is pressure non-stop every hour of every day to the point where its become grossly excessive and draining.
No controls in place over the volume of work per underwriter so the phones will ring all day and the emails just keep piling up, systems constantly drop out leaving you even further behind.
You are human not a robot and if you value your mental health look elsewhere for a job and ignore those flowery ads you see with sickly piano music playing in the background as they wheel out pre-prepared members of the team to waffle on about how great chubb is to work for. Believe it if you want to.
Just avoid IMHO.
Pros
day of leaving
Cons
everything

A palce where work comes first and last
Credit Controller (Former Employee) - Blackburn, Lancashire - 29 September 2018
Organising daily workload.
No two days are the same.
Don't get too involved with management due to role being autonomous.
The culture is one of keeping up with present trends and practices.
Administration and data input, both very tedious.
Getting the right result after negotiation.
Pros
Free Parking
Cons
Continual reminders of call stats. No problem if you are a successful worker.

Checking mailboxes for new complaints, adding these complaints and allocating these to the relevant case handler, request files with regards to complaints involving the Financial Ombudsman. Adding this information to Spreadsheet for the case handlers to make them aware of cases assigned to them. Logging the complaints on to the complaints system. Once checking that these are eligible. Maintain the GDPR process throughout workflow. Retrieving any policies and documents requested by the case handlers. Communicating with other resources to ensure have all relevant information to process complaints within the designated timeframe.

Chubb / Ace
Senior Software Test Analyst / Test Lead (Current Employee) - City of London, Greater London - 13 May 2018
I've never known a more dysfunctional company, everyone works against each other rather than for the good of the company.. there's a level of spite in everything that gets done, and achievement is often marred by the difficulty for it to be embraced by the company.
The culture seems to encourage this, rather than dissuade it.. as the aggressive nature of the company means it take steps faster, but with little thought as to what is being stepped on... and where the next step will take them..
