Ok
Onboarding Specialist (Former Employee) - Belfast City Centre, County Antrim - 29 August 2023
Weak management but persevere for opportunities. Good money and holidays, if you can survive fear based , anxiety dependent hierarchical structure . Not the worst

Difficult for career progression
Vice President (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 4 July 2023
Good work life balance, great people, decent work environment, but almost non-existent chance of promotion unless moving to a different team. Team’s visibility is more important a factor than the work actually being done.

Fun and enriching
Intern (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 20 April 2023
It has been an enrinching experience working at Citi as an intern. The work load is not much and you were assigned tasks that actually mattered as part of a project.

Good or bad - highly depend on the team
Analyst (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 25 March 2023
it’s good if you meet a good manager and team. But hours quite long and no work life balance. This becomes terrible if unluckily you have a bad manager

Only focused on the bottom line.
Interim HR Consultant (Former Employee) - Remote - 27 February 2023
It was focused on the bottom line, not a thorough induction, no training on systems and processes. Lack of transparency in promotion and remuneration.
Cons
Long hours

Toxic
Managing Director (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 22 February 2023
I worked in TTS Core Accts. It was so TOXIC, Poor leadership, no plans, no strategy, senior leaders just seem to spend their time travelling the world creating chaos or visiting their families in India on expenses, very rarely do they turn up to meetings, don’t give direction or sense of team work - typical day is fending off 1000’s of emails with URGENT or CRITICAL in amongst the chaos. Social life non-existent, didn’t even acknowledge Xmas or new year. Never once saw anyone go out for lunch or drinks together. Worst thing about this company was I thought I’d be working in technology but there’s absolutely no tech in the roles, its all outsourced and all you do is get hammered for the past 25 years of mess created by the same seniors racking up their air miles. Most jobs are completely admin based.
Pros
None - it’s a vile toxic culture reinforced by toxic leaders
Cons
AVOID at all costs, it will damage your CV

Horrendous experience
Cash and Collateral Management Representative (Former Employee) - Belfast - 20 February 2023
Awful management, awful training, awful work life balance. Thankfully they only required a one week notice period from me. i wouldn’t recommend working here at all.
Pros
Great location
Cons
Long hours, poor management, no compassion, no overtime, poor work life balance, no training. I could go on.

Good for exposure, not so good for work life balance
Senior Manager (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 9 February 2023
I've been with Citi for 7 years now. There is a lot of opportunity to learn very complex processes products and frameworks. That does give you good job profile but the opportunity to progress and climb up the corporate ladder is very difficult. The competition is fierce and that puts a lot of pressure to deliver. This impacts the work-life balance as well as the mental health. It is a mature bank and therefore focus is on running the bank rather than growing the bank.

Jobs at Citi
Good place to work
Good prospects and opportunities for progression. Would prefer more of a hybrid option. Can be long hours and stressful but good experience for future roles.

Average at best
SVP (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 30 November 2022
Some decent colleagues, but quite a few unethical ones in Finance department- specially the ones who have remained at Citi for 10-20 years. These people mostly recruit based on certain "characteristics" that one is born with and reject others calling it "not a cultural fit". This results in a place where most people with so-called experience actually don't know anything and have stayed at the firm because no one will recruit them anyway.
Pros
Some departments have very nice people, unlike Finance; easy-going and not a stressful place
Cons
toxic work environment in certain departments

High paced / Stressful / Long hours
Middle Office (Former Employee) - Belfast - 1 November 2022
Citi is a great place to work if you are interested in investment banking. The culture across the market of working in investment banking is that of a stressful high paced working environment. Citi Operations are in line with this ethos. The work that is being conducted is very important and very reactive to market conditions. Get used to working hard for long periods of time for little praise. The experience you get in return is great however. This will condition you to being able how to handle very stressful working environments with multiple daily deadlines.

Good starting point
Product Controller/Liquidity Risk (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 29 October 2022
Working in Product Control can be a bit repetative, wheareas in Liquidity Risk Reporting more dynamic and creative. Good starting point and the opportunity to learn basic softwares like Excel and develop basic knowledge

Fast paced and demanding
Personal Assistant (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 3 October 2022
I enjoyed my time at Citi. It was a dynamic environment and I was rewarded for my hard work. I felt motivated to excel in my duties. I enjoyed being a reliable gatekeeper and was always a well respected member of staff. I worked for a challenging MD and proved my worth.

Friendly atmosphere
Ops analyst (Current Employee) - Belfast, County Antrim - 2 September 2022
Great colleagues, good place to work. Only downside is no fully remote working and salary isn't that great compared to the cost of living. Clear opportunity for progession

Would not recommend
Analyst (Former Employee) - Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh - 31 August 2022
Work itself was ok but management style was archaic and autocratic, possibly just within my team as other teams seemed to function well so think I was just unlucky in having a rotten manager who had been there for 10+ years and was stuck in a time warp. Initial training given in first week but then nothing, and criticised for asking for clarification when doing tasks. Manager claimed to be approachable but quite clearly wasn't. I wouldn't work here again which is a shame as the company benefits are good.
Pros
Nice office & good benefits
Cons
Long hours with expectation to start early & leave late.
