The work was meaningful. There are many areas of law to explore and the mode of providing services were tailored to meet the clients needs where possible and within reason.

Disappointing
PIP Specialist-Welfare and Benefits Caseworker (Former Employee) - Worcestershire - 17 November 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Helping people in need of advice What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Lack of policies and procedures What is the work environment and culture like at the company? I left because of poor management, high work load and lack of understanding of staff welfare. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Work being squeezed in everywhere and being left to deal with it all.

What is the best part of working at the company? The clients are great as it’s rewarding to help them. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The clique mentality of the place. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Cliques were formed and if you weren’t apart of it you didn’t fit in and felt like an outsider .

Great charity. Really welcoming to new volunteers. I probably gained more than I provided but I’m so grateful for my time there. Would recommend volunteering or supporting however you can

Awful place to work
Client Services Officer (Former Employee) - Bolton - 13 October 2023
Awful place to work, full of nepotism and incompetent staff who are so old, they view being able to operate a computer like a caveman seeing fire for the first time. They care little for their clients and even less so for their staff, poor wages and a blame culture where nobody works together to solve issues. With the current trajectory of constant cuts to their services, in the next 5 years I see them being at best a call centre or at worst completely out of business.
Pros
None
Cons
Low pay, poor support, exploitative managers.

Dealing with unrealistic targets with little or no suppory
Debt Advisor (Former Employee) - Scarborough - 12 October 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Hardworking staff team. Offering resolutions to people in need. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Unachievable & unrealistic targets, no support from management. Becoming de-skilled & demoralised. Unable to recommend positively in any way. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Unpleasant, unsupportive, no management support. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Extremely stressful, constantly trying to fit all necessary work into the working day, both face to face work, all media channels & all casenoting. Becoming ever more difficult.

Patchy
Welfare Benefits Advisor (Former Employee) - West Sussex - 10 September 2023
The training didn't "speak" to me as it was mainly online and hard to relate to real life job in practice. The management was sometimes chaotic sadly. On the plus side it was inspiring working alongside a dedicated team both volunteers and paid staff, but targets and key onfo was missed leaving me to guess whether I was doing the right thing or not (mainly not in my case). Really patchy and personality dependent with some shouting impatient managers and aot of stress sadly. Luckily for me this was noted by higher management and a rescue plan devised which involved a move of office and a different manager. Essentially it's ironic that a charity offering so much hope to the downtrodden was itself behaving so badly. Long hours, challenging client group, punishing targets and no praise or proper guidance.. When I moved office things did improve but I have to agree with other reviewers that the managers often have it easier than frontline staff and hopefully the lessons they say have been learned will be put in to practice. However I did learn a lot about my resilience levels and who I am as a person.
Pros
Worthwhile organisation
Cons
Unprofessional at times
