Rubbish management, low wages.

Work colleague (Current Employee) - Warrington - 25 September 2023

Long and tedious, dealing with other shifts leftovers before being able to start you're own job. The progression ladder is there, if you're a manager kiss a*se or you don't know what you're doing. Be prepared for many different cultures in the workplace which is great, but unfortunately the ability to speak and communicate in English clearly and safely isn't a necessity. Dealing with some managers who have no clue and who think they're Gods gift is a major problem, if you don't like bad attitudes and ignorant management don't bother.Apart from a few great colleagues, going home at the end of the shift is the best part of the day these days, and its only getting worse.

Pros

Drinks machine is cheap and food is reasonable and fair priced.

Management are disgraceful

What is the best part of working at the company?CPS has many wonderful and talented people at all levels. They are very kind, welcoming and supportive. And they work together as 'big' team. I thoroughly enjoyed working with them. Leaders there always made time for me, they willingly filled in my knowledge gaps about their company, and its core operations. It is a progressive business, committed to giving its customers the best services possible. To this end it is tranforming its e2e IT capabilities with an ambitious programme that is driven by a very clear business strategy. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?My only frustrations were down to my own knowledge gaps. And as I have previously said, the 'whole team' helped me to close them. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?It's a mix of offices, distribution centres, and branches across the UK. And I've already explained that its culture is warm, welcoming and helpful. Unsupportive and lack of workplace culture

Good flexible working times however, average salaries. No support from management to help develop skills or advance learning with qualifications. Negative working environment with no strong relationships between colleagues.

Not too bad

It’s okay, there are many aspects of the job though that are incredibly frustrating. Lots of pressure and not enough support. Not bad but really could’ve been better.

Interesting training days. Good pay. Benefits scheme.

Cons

No one takes lunch breaks in branches, and you’re vilified if you do. Not enough training. Lots of pressure. Regions feel disconnected.

Lack of support

Store manager was constantly pushing for sales and customer service, when meet with difficult customers who asked to speak to him he would walk away.Constantly at battle with the trade side. Bathroom delivery's not being made as trade customers come first. Your expected to learn on the spot with minimal training. You are also expected to help at the trade counter again with no training. You won't get paid enough and are constantly stressed about hitting sales targets.Pros noneConsLack of support At constant battle with trade counterFavoritism Not enough moneyExpected to work weekends No overtime

The Showroom Sales Assistant role is a sales and customer service focused role and although achievable, sales targets are stretching, and this type of role doesn't suit everyone. Productive with pleasant staff

In the time I was there, I found it hard to remember part numbers and getting used to giving discounts to regular customers. As I was a relief driver as well, I got to get off the premises once in a while and make deliveries and collections.

Lied to from the start

We're do I start I was lied to from the beginning, they don't need drivers they recuite from agency and ull end up in warehouse picking orders for next day. Some of office staff was great to chat to, They messed my wages up 3 times and I had to sort out there mistakes would avoid like the plage ....

Nightmare management team

This is by far the worst sales job that I have ever had. The HR team and even my regional manager could not get hold of my contract, when they were adding extra unpaid hours and bank holidays. The manager wanted a friends son in to replace me and made this very clear by offering no support and by shouting at me on the shop floor in front of customers. I was told that I wasn’t performing despite exceeding my sales target each month. I have never worked in such a hostile and unprofessional environment in my entire life. The IT team was dreadful and the technology was very outdated….. There’s a reason why 4 people have done this job in the space of a year and another 8 team members have left the branch.

Staff so helpful! Lots of leads from fitters, just have to be chatty and follow up on orders quickly. More training needed as you’re thrown in the deep end abit, but you learn quickly and do have support!

Would not recommend entry level head office roles
