Class 2 ADR Driver (Former Employee) - Eastleigh, Hampshire - 22 May 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGood company to work for. Salary Is best your gonna get for class 2 pallet multi drop in the area. Good bunch of lads to work with and have a laugh with, everyone helps eachother out. Good fleet of Merc trucks, reasonably maintained. Maybe some of the older trucks that have been abused could do with replacement but majority of them are decent spec. General manager is at top of his game, very understanding & patient, go to him with problems he’ll sort it. Electric pump trucks. Good days and bad days. Warehouse can do you head in some days, really have to watch how your loaded as the fate of your day may depend on it. Vosa compliant particularly the ADR aspect. Transport office are okay. There’s a lot worse out there. Only thing I would change is to maybe pay overtime rate after 8 hours. Typical shift 9-12 hours plus break. Overall, good company to work for, would recommend.

Insights into Clarke Transport
What people like
- Clear sense of purpose
Areas for improvement
- Inclusive work environment
- Time and location flexibility
- Support from manager
It’s a reasonable job
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Luton, Bedfordshire - 15 May 2022
The pay is ok , workload is heavy, don’t think the routing is very good . The management team is mixed some are just rude and others will help you and even make you laugh and lift morale, the manager is fair but a little out of touch , hours can be long but sometimes you can have a short day , you don’t really no what’s going on , and if a Headoffice person arrives they just stand looking at you and don’t talk to minions, overall it’s not to bad.

A job for life if you have the patience
Night shift Manager (Former Employee) - Barton-le-Clay, Bedfordshire - 3 May 2022
About 7 years ago I left Clarke transport and it’s the biggest mistake I made. The company are great to work for and the depot I was at had great management team. The job was straight forwArd and the goals were clear and precise. If I could say anything negative is that the progression path is there, but, it’s a slow process as the jobs are joked about as being deadman shoes you will need to fill! If a job comes up then take it would be my advice

Pros
Free drinks
Cons
Long hours

It’s alright
Night Deckworker (Current Employee) - Leigh - 11 April 2022
Relaxed workplace, wages are okay. Typical pallet deliver company. Not a terrible place to work. It’s 48 hour weeks but this compensates the pay you receive.

Secure employment
ADR Driver (Current Employee) - Luton - 19 February 2022
OK place to work. Morning loading poor management. Secure employment. Drivers idle in the morning, while truck been loaded and have to breathe this in- management doesn't care..
Pros
Three payrises within a year. £750 bonus every 3 months.
Cons
Sometimes too much work.

Cracking job.
Good management. Good set of lads and lasses. Some graft but everyone gets stuck in mostly. Good rates of pay for the area, and treat like a human not number one sheet of paper.
Pros
Good wages
Cons
Some graft so not for everyone. Don’t expect just a straight driving only job. If you get stuck in, you’ll enjoy it.

Not a nice place to work.
HGV Driver class 1 (Former Employee) - Wishaw - 15 September 2021
Difficult job to recommend I'm afraid. Overall there is a culture of treating staff very poorly. Expect to be spoken to badly and treated not much better. Glasgow management team are not very organised as seem out of their depth. Staff turnover quite high due to this. I would avoid at all costs.
Pros
Paid weekly.
Cons
Long hours, unappreciated, treated as spoken to Iike rubbish.

Busy depot, good team
Class 2 Driver (Former Employee) - Ossett, West Yorkshire - 11 August 2021
Depot is very busy, loading is can be hard in a morning some days but the team helped most of the time and worked together, helped you load and made sure you were fully strapped before you left. Supervisors were helpful and got you sorted and you can ask them questions and they usually sort it for you. Runs can be tough some days 15 drops + on the rigids but they are ok and planned well.
Pros
Free coffee, good crack with the lads
Cons
Morning can be a pian sometimes

Family feel honest business Barton Depot
Driver (Current Employee) - Barton-le-Clay - 6 July 2021
I have worked at the Barton depot for 4 years and seen many changes and challenges but the one constant is the family feel of the business , you are not just a number . Yes you work for your money but so you should , the work I not overly difficult and the hours are good , management at the depot are extremely good and understanding and there is not the normal pressure put on the drivers the equipment is good , the team are friendly and it's an honest days pay for an honest day's work
Pros
Free coffee, friendly team, decent work, decent pay
Cons
Phones very busy so sometimes hard to get through

Cowboys
Driver (Former Employee) - Ossett, West Yorkshire - 3 June 2021
Wanting you to run unsecured Hazardous loads. Telling me there isn't time to strap them. Shocking company. Avoid them. If your face doesn't fit they'll muscle you out. A shame as the gaffer from Midlands seemed a decent lad.
Pros
Errrm?
Cons
Dangerous work practices.

Have worked for a lot worse in 32 years of driving.
HGV Driver class 1 (Current Employee) - Bridgend, Bridgend - 30 May 2021
Quite a good place to work. Not had any issues so far. 2 pay rises but sadly not enough holidays and 1 hour break deducted every day. Some small adjustments would make a huge difference at very little cost to the company.
Pros
Free coffee, relaxed atmosphere.
Cons
Poor holidays, unpaid breaks.

It’s Not too bad to work for.
Driver (Former Employee) - Bridgend, Bridgend - 18 May 2021
Not a bad place to work at “Bridgend depot”, some very nice people, but sadly there’s two poisonous FLT drivers that lets them down badly, 10/10 for Management nipping them in the bud.
Pros
Some nice people
Cons
More you do the more is expected of you.

Good place to work
Developer (Current Employee) - Oldbury, West Midlands - 12 May 2021
So far it's been a good place to work. Usually very busy and fast-paced, but that's better than too quiet and having nothing to do. Collaborative and supportive team with great managers.
Pros
Flexibility, culture, collaboration, good managers
Cons
Clocking-in, 20 holiday days, 8 hour days
