Clarks, based in Somerset, England, has been at the forefront of innovative shoemaking since its foundation in 1825, when brothers James and Cyrus Clark made a slipper from sheepskin off-cuts. At the time it was ground-breaking; a combination of invention and craftsmanship that’s remained at the heart of what the brand does now.

In the Clarks archive of more than 22,000 pairs are shoes that have sparked revolutions and defined generations. From the original Clarks Desert Boot, first designed by Nathan Clark and launched in 1950 to the iconic Wallabee, each design has an instantly recognisable signature - a unique combination of craftsmanship and innovation that make it unmistakably Clarks.

Underpinned by a rich heritage and strong values, Clarks is a leading global footwear brand serving millions of consumers across the world, operating retail, wholesale, franchise and online channels in over 100 markets worldwide supported by nearly 7,000 employees across the world.

In February 2021, Clarks entered a new chapter in its history as it formed a partnership with LionRock Capital, positioning the iconic footwear brand for future success as it enters its third century.

Physically demanding and low pay
Good environment overall but physically demanding, minimum wage and limited hours available. If you work past the end time of your shift there’s no additional pay, you’re paid for the hours stated on the rota, but are expected to stay to finish tasks

Fun workplace poorly managed
Had to stay behind to clean up after your shift ended, they would pick the same people all the time for that. Made to sell shoe care every time and bring four pairs down to the customer when they only wanted one.

Bad management
The pay was good for the time I worked there and I learned a lot, but the management was very lazy - the person who called me for my interview was someone with the same job position as me, and they were given multiple jobs that the managers should have been responsible for. They worked a lot harder than any of the managers did. Additionally, I was promised a pair of shoes for my time working there...

Horrible Staff and Horrible Place
It's a great place to work if you want to basically be bullied by staff. You will end up doing so much physically demanding work for, little to no money, no appreciation, no thank you. You would think the staff would be amazing considering it is a children's store. Very wrong. The company seems to snatch up any young person with no experience- so you are unaware of the rights and wrongs. Be prepa...

Terrible management
Just awful, appalling management, the reason I would leave retail. If you apply I hope for your sanity you have a different manager. Expect them to sit in the office watching TV on the phone throughout the entire shift and leave early most working days.
