Challenging but fun
Satellite Store Manager (Current Employee) - United Kingdom - 2 March 2022
Over the last few years the business has changed and is much more people focused. You’re not an employee number but a person who is valued. No two days are the same and everyday brings new challenges to make your store better. Management are supportive and ready to listen. I’ve worked for different companies but this is the first time I’ve been able to say ‘I love my Job’.

Terrible company to work for
Store Manager (Former Employee) - Weston-super-Mare - 5 May 2021
Do not value their staff. Unreasonable expectations. Do not support their stores and do not invest time into their teams development. Salaries based on how good you can negotiate rather than how good a job you can do for them.
Pros
Trading hours (9-5.30)
Cons
Understaffed, underpaid, undervalued, no supportt

Uncaring Company
Store Manager (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 15 October 2020
Worst company I've worked for. Over worked and under paid. They do NOT care about your mental or physical health. They didn't pay into our pensions for months and only started to when they received warnings of hefty fines. No over time pay, but still expected to do it. I worked 50hr weeks whilst only being paid for 39hrs to make sure all tasks were completed as our district manager threatened us with the sack if we didn't complete said tasks. You would do the work, while they take all the credit
Pros
None
Cons
Honestly, everything!

It’s a Job
Store Manager (Former Employee) - Kent - 3 October 2020
The company needs to invest in a better head office infrastructure. At times there is very little support when needed in important matters. Feedback about what’s going on your store is largely ignored. Clinton’s needs to re evaluate its strategy in buying. Over priced chocolates and expensive stationary do not sell when there is normally a pound shop, B and M or Savers near almost every store. Yet they insist on pushing these. If you’re lucky you work with a good team, if not you really don’t want to be there. Think carefully before applying.
Pros
Not many
Cons
Too many

6 months wasted
Store Manager (Former Employee) - Chatham, Kent - 21 August 2020
Worked in Chatham as a store manager and it was the worst job of my life. No support from the RM, no staff had to lone work, massive deliveries with no stock room, no staff area, lots of jobs to be done with no staff, and no home life as you will be working late all the time. Salary was poor for what you have to do.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Everything

Just don’t.
Store Supervisor (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 19 May 2019
- Training - Might as well be non existent. Only found out there was on supervisor knowledge checklist after I’d been there 4 months. I’ve never had a review, even after passing my 3 month mark.
- Management - cold hearted, unhelpful, unapproachable.
- Salary - You get one! A supervisor barely scrapes over what a regular tm makes though.
- If you hate your family and friends, great! The long hours and late nights mean you’ll rarely get to see them anyway!
- Workload - You’ll only be a supervisor by name. You’ll be expected to do the job of an assistant manager with none of the perks. Also, forget about delegating tasks because most of your team members do one shift a week and have never been shown how to do anything apart from the basics.
Don’t start as supervisor at Clintons, especially in the London stores. You’ll be tired, miserable, stressed, and only have some cheap candles to show for it.
Pros
it’s a job?
Cons
It’s not a good one.

Glad to be gone!!!
Store Supervisor (Former Employee) - Chelmsford - 4 September 2017
So I worked in Clintons Chelmsford as a store supervisor, it is the worst job I've ever done. First they gave me a 16 hour contract and I was always doing 20/30 hours a week! Then they would change your shift without telling you then make it out to be your fault. They expect to drop everything to work for them even when your children are ill!!
Pros
Good staff discount
Cons
Bad management/ bad rota changes/ bad company.

Diabolical
Store Manager (Former Employee) - South - 3 August 2015
Never work for this company
There is no planning, information hits after the task is meant to be done. Communication is infuriatingly unreliable and LATE!
Staffing cuts mean that it is impossible to meet expectations. Service - Delivery - Training - Floor planning - Stockroom - Cash control - rota - Health and Safety - Replenishment all in the 2 hours you are lone working with photos sent from your phone to prove what you have done a day before its due is basically an average day.
Nothing that you do will ever be good enough and you will never receive a thank you for any extra time you put in let alone over time or time off leu. It's expected!
Good luck on taking any breaks.
Lone working is a daily experience and with hours being cut by almost half and targets increasing it is a soul destroying environment.
Ask any manager as I don't know 1 that is happy and not looking to move.
We are easy to pick out on the shop floor the tierd sallow completion and vacant lost all will to live expression
If I could put minus 5 stars I would
Pros
Days Off
Cons
Everything else
