I am not in a permanent post. I am an associate where I will be undertaking occasional online work for the College of Policing. I will be expected to undertake assessments of new recruits. The interview and subsequent communication has been relaxed.

Hard to judge in Covid times

The job has changed considerably due to home working/ Covid restrictions and may never change back again. The work is irregular and is basically a zero hours contract with very little work on offer.

Productive Supportive and Transformational Organisation

Whilst on secondment here over the last 18 months it has been a pleasure to work for the College of Policing, I have worked with some very talented and supportive individuals and it has given me a great insight into the work of the College. Be careful. Senior management removed my pending role without warning.

Overall, I was hugely looking forward to working at the college, having dealt with really pleasant people during the application. Yes, the staff and team leaders are clearly under pressure due to lack of staff and resources. I understood this and was ready for the challenge. BUT THEN....when I believed that my vetting process was underway (almost 10 weeks in) the position was suddenly pulled after an internal review which I was not warned about. If you're applying, make sure that you check and double-check that the position is safe. Additionally, my suggestion is that you carry on applying elsewhere just in case. It was a massive shock to me and a HUGE waste of time. Un-professional in this instance!
