Stressful and over worked
Support Worker (Current Employee) - Durham, Durham - 16 May 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe residents are wonderful. Staff can be very mean to new started and very bossy even though everyone has the same role. No work life balance and called in all the time due to short staff. Overall a good job if you have plenty of time to give to it. Worth it for the people we support though as they are so pure and lovely

Not a great environment
Support Worker (Former Employee) - Dalbeattie - 13 May 2022
Very stressful environment to work in. Staff not at all pleasant unless your face fits. Makes doing a job you love very difficult. Very poor communication skills. Over worked and under paid

Not productive nor fun.
Advanced support worker (Former Employee) - Scotland - 10 May 2022
Staff are left in services to cope with being abused by service users and their family members. Threats to job security, sworn at, called obscene names, seen as second class and as if you don’t matter. Management are treated the same way, yet nothing is done. No support for the potential mental health impact on their staff. I was treated so poorly that I felt I had no option but to leave (granted without giving the advised 4 week notice) but I was given no exit interview and was told I would not be given a reference by the company. The company’s ethics are great but they don’t apply to everyone. Certainly not staff and they should be ashamed.
Pros
None
Cons
Mental health impacts as well as emotional abuse.

Good charity
Support Worker (Current Employee) - Nottingham - 9 May 2022
I did not have any problems with this charity apart from the management. This is because they can’t be unsupportive, depending if you are causing trouble or not

Rewarding Work, Poor Support and Toxic Elements.
Support Worker/Carer (Current Employee) - Sheffield - 8 May 2022
The job is rewarding, you get to help those in need of help, and the work is challenging but fulfilling. Management is often absent and though regular colleagues are supposed to be equal there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians. There is one colleague who has caused some to quit and many to consider quitting, but who is allowed to keep working, and is not effectively corrected in regard to their behavior.

An environment to grow and to develop
Service Leader (Current Employee) - East Sussex - 5 May 2022
It is a fantastic company to work for. The opportunities are created to help you reach your full potential. Colleagues are encouraged to progress and inspired by the senior leadership team. Definitely person focussed organisation and definitely do get staff thinking about how to help the people we support to live the best lives possible!

Great residents and some great staff
Support Worker (Current Employee) - Edinburgh - 22 April 2022
Was happy enough there but can’t seem to keep staff for too long especially managers and lots of lazy staff who don’t get pulled on their incompetance

Great Charity to work for
Vocational Support Worker (Current Employee) - Liverpool - 19 April 2022
I have been a support worker at CIC for approximately 8 months and it's been great. The managers are supportive and the job role of vocational support worker is very rewarding. It's possible to pick up shifts in other services too such as supported living homes so there's a variety of experience to be gained and lots of additional training you can do online.

Great place to work
Business Development Partner (Current Employee) - Widnes, Cheshire - 18 April 2022
Great values based organisation that provides high quality support for individuals with a range of needs. Work in a central support services role and find it a fantastic place to work.

If you have no experience do not work here
Support Worker (Former Employee) - North West - 17 April 2022
Very little training no support management none existant long hours staff seem to be in abit of a clique. It can be quite a lonley Job. My first day I was shadowing someone and my second day I was left to it supporting someone I knew nothing about. If you have experience go for it but I'd you are completely new to care dont do it. I managed 6 months until I completely lost my mind.
Pros
Long days mean more time off
Cons
Long days no support

Work life balance
Service Leader (Former Employee) - North West - 31 March 2022
Great job for support workers, lots of support from the company. There is an expectation for managers to be available 24/7 and little in the way of support.

Good pay
Support Worker (Current Employee) - Wigan - 14 March 2022
Good place to work. Pay is good. Support workers and carers work hard for their money. Worked with some amazing people, colleagues and service users alike. No day is the same, varied workload and can be stressful at times, but it is rewarding. Management can be overbearing. Constantly being asked to pick up extra shifts and expected to cover for other services. Contacting you when on holidays or days off.
Pros
Colleagues and service users
Cons
Long shifts

Overworked and unsupported
Support Worker (Former Employee) - Southport, Merseyside - 8 March 2022
Often left understaffed and expected to solve staffing issues yourself. Often had new responsibilities added without any increase in pay or staffing to accommodate for extra workload. You will not advance with this company. You will be expected to do more with less.
Pros
Helping people
Cons
No support, understaffed, a lot of responsibility for an entry level job
