I work for compass in an in store cafe for a major retailer. I am a manager at the unit The relationship between the client and ourselves can be a little strained sometimes, but its an ok place to be. The work is busy, and includes early evenings and weekends. Unfortunately i am now working for my 5th regional manager in 4 years, which isnt very helpful as the areas change a lot. my cafe is also due to close in april 2021, and there is very little we can transfer to, due to there not being a lot of hospitality open right now. The result is probably redundancy, as there is very little effort in finding us a job within the company. Dissappointing end to what i thought would be a job that would last. I would stay with the company if possible
Pros
never a dull moment
Cons
too many changes to regions
I loved this place, even though it was very busy and stressful. But the team was good most of the time and we helped each other. Of particular importance is a good manager - we had a terrible manager who failed the business, and his behavior with colleagues and clients was terrible, but we also had a manager who appreciated our work and did not bother to say "thank you", which was an incentive. about us. But the customers were great.
Pros
Free launches
Managers brill always there to help.learn all you need to know, not much more to say about this company just brill.just wished the pay was a little more
Pros
Very nice to work for
Cons
None
If anyone in the Compass group could be bothered which I very much doubt they could really do with someone from higher management going back to the ground floor so they can see for themselves exactly how staff are being treated. You are asked to stand outside in all weathers whilst you wait to sign in first thing in the morning (06.00, freezing in winter) also they are supposed to be a cleaning company, the mops used are as black as coal and if you ask for clean ones you get in trouble, same as the cloths. Managers and team leaders have NO duty of care to their staff and are not interested in any difficulties that you may be experiencing
Pros
It's a job for which you get paid
Cons
No duty of care from anyone and you can't learn anything or advance
Job description is a joke it’s nothing like the job advertisement who ever wrote that is a joke staff are liars they constantly backstab each other workplace culture very frustrating as no one speaks good English
Pros
You were told you had to pay for lunch but supervisor and management ate for free
Cons
Stressful job no one is on the same page
Compass UK & Ireland was one the most exciting and fulfilling roles I’ve had. Working with great teams, fantastic venues and a company that had a clear vision for the future
Pros
Great working environments
Cons
Changes to industry due to Covid
No care nor support for their own employees . Low morale management. Worst communication and management I work for in Compass group was medirest. Training would be 0.5* , general standards 0.5* There are bad employees, but medirest is one of the worst. Having covid apparently is not allowed 🤣 during probation period. Like some individuals can personally control worldwide pandemic.
Pros
No pros
Cons
Low morale
Worse company to have ever had the unfortunate experience of working for. Minimum pay, no pension, no sick pay. Complete lack of support from management. Expected to do overtime regardless of other jobs/ commitments you might have outside your contracted working hours. Expected to drop everything and cover at very short notice. Awful working ethos and atmosphere. They did nothing about bullying that was taking place, despite making a statement.
Pros
Having a job
Cons
Everything - avoid at all costs
Bad management They haven't a clue how to manage a team of staff. They have no respect for the staff, so many have left because of this. They lie and deny things that have happened. There is never all required foods to complete dishes. No communication at all.

I can’t fault my employment with compass Best job I’ve ever had. The staff were great and we all got along very well. I regret leaving. I left due to not knowing if my job was going to secure after COVID finished so I panicked and left. Wish I hadn’t.
Pros
Great staff. Good laugh. Customers amazing to
Cons

Based on my own long-term experience working for Compass Group, I would advise if you have a hint of self-esteem you should actively stay away from that absolutely filthy, billion-making, exploitative, and hyper-capitalist inferno/hole.
Pros
no pros
Cons
all cons
Not enough labour hours to finish the job with high expectations. No overtime for manager, no recognizing your hard work, turn the site from bad to good reputation with 5 star score on the door. They don't recognize or remember the good thing you did, always the wrong one that will appear on every conversation. Management not pretty care about your situation. As long as client happy you will be fine.
Pros
Free lunches as you like
Cons
Long hours
The management have never been clear, promise after promise, asked the moon from employees and payed peanut. No ethics, no respect for the individual. All the time short staff and make the environment such a stressful place, until the limit that for your heathy you must to leave.
Pros
Some nice colleagues
Cons
Always short of staff
I would rather run a mile than work for compass. They take the mickey and when you look for another job they bully you from the workplace. because you’ve dared to look somewhere else. No incentive to stay
Pros
No pros - had free lunch when boss wasn’t in
Cons
Long days. Supervisors do what they want
I never in my life worked for such disgraceful company. They use you, once they done with you, they force you to leave.Do not work for them are bad company.. The only people to benefit from any intensive are managers and investors.
Pros

Cons
Too many brown noses, And bad top management.
