Marketing Assistant (Former Employee) - uk - 8 December 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedNice working enviroment but not many career opportunities. Training is provided but there are lots of procedures in place so you need to be a quick learner

Ex employee
HR Administrator (Former Employee) - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire - 26 November 2023
Worked there for a while. Nice people to work with. Minimum wage for long hours. Good in the beginning hectic by the end. Get shouted at for not being able to do something by protocol then managers over ride it and do it anyway?

- Time and location flexibility
- Sense of belonging
Decent administration position
Secretary (Former Employee) - Exeter, Devon - 24 November 2023
One of the better estate agents to work for. Competitive salary, varied tasks, good management in the local area. Progressive attitudes amongst most employees.

Just a call centre
Trainee Sales Negotiator (Former Employee) - Luton - 22 November 2023
Low salary which doesn’t make sense to me as we generate a lot of business for the Connells group branches + commission can be earned on top but they make that as hard to get as possible (but still achievable) best thing about this place is the other staff, job itself is awful, started off not that bad as I was just getting into it but the longer I’ve been here the more I wish I worked literally any where else, staff turn over is insanely high 4 people quit in my first week, at first I thought must be coincidental but have discovered it’s because the job is that bad, there is good money to be made if you enjoy clicking and dialling for 9 hours a day while getting shouted at if you turn away from your computer once. They also make you dress like estate agents when you literally just work in a call centre.
Pros
Other staff members
Cons
Long hours, low pay, nothing to look forward to

Unappreciative and unrewarding
Lettings Negotiator (Current Employee) - Wales - 15 November 2023
The main issue with the company is the pay. They pay less than minimum wage and expect you to top it up with your commission. You can earn decent commission but you’re expected to have your eyes on so many things at once that it’s hard to focus on what you really need to be doing in favour of targets set by the company to the detriment of the customers and your own wellbeing. The people you work with in branch are great and that’s the most rewarding part about going to work. It’s the higher management that are the issue, obviously having no real idea of what it’s like to be ‘on the shop floor’. The training they give you for the industry is second to none however, so the best thing is to get your training in and learn about the trade before looking for better paid, better appreciated work elsewhere.

Do not work here
Sales Negotiator (Former Employee) - Warwickshire - 9 November 2023
awful place to work, do not pay you minimum wage, management are bullies, toxic work environment, you have pay for your own fuel and insurance and parking. Super high targets you cannot hit and if you do hit them they increase them. Cannot earn a good wage due to commission being used to make your ‘minimum wage top up’ I had to earn £600 in commission to even see any of it on top of my wage. They take money off you when you leave and the management do not help. The level of staff turnover is like nothing I’ve ever seen. Working here takes a HUGE toll on your mental health, constantly working, no breaks and made to feel bad if you don’t work late for free
Pros
Absolutely none
Cons
Don’t pay minimum wage, poor commission, poor training, terrible management

Productive and challlenging
Sales Negotiator (Former Employee) - High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire - 27 October 2023
Great place to start and learn new skills, enjoyed my time there a lot, meeting new people but high turnover of staff, success happiness depended on management at the time, when it works it works

Business has been on a journey
HR Manager (Current Employee) - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire - 20 October 2023
HR team (along with others in the Group) has been through a large amount of change activity following acquisition in 2021 but is coming out of the other side much stronger and there is now a good culture of team work and proactivity.

Jobs at Connells Group
Wouldn’t recommend working here
Lettings Negotiator (Former Employee) - Huddersfield, West Yorkshire - 14 September 2023
The management is poor and the majority of my employment was spent dealing with complaints. They don’t care about employers like they say they do. The pay is not good either. Good opportunities to progress if you can last that long.
Cons
Long hours, low pay

Bad management
Sales Negotiator (Former Employee) - Peterborough - 1 September 2023
The management at the Peterborough branch is something to stay away from. If you want to enjoy your role and not feel like you’re being babysat/micromanaged then I suggest you stay completely away from this estate agency. From having no branch manager for a few months and the lister having to deal with all positions of Sales Negotiator, Lister and Branch Manager, you’d think that they would appoint someone that would completely turn it around with the managerial experience and make it a better place for everyone but unfortunately this was not the case.

Would not recommend
Property Manager (Current Employee) - Wirral, Merseyside - 25 August 2023
Horrendous place to work would not reccomend. Management are shocking and unfortunately there is favouritism throughout. If your face fits you will be fine

Avoid!!!
Lettings Manager (Current Employee) - West Midlands - 25 August 2023
The worst company I've ever 'worked' for. It's more like exploitation than employment. A no care culture, unreachable targets and a very high staff turnover as a result. Save your time and sanity and steer clear

A good foot in the door
Finance Assistant (Current Employee) - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire - 7 August 2023
It is a good company for getting your foot in the door. However the pay is not great but it is a good company to be able to learn the basics and then take skills elsewhere.

Good place to progressive criminally underpaid
Sales Negotiator (Current Employee) - Bearwood, West Midlands - 7 August 2023
Connells is a great place to work when you want experience they give you the tools to progress and move up the ladder however the pay for the job/hours is criminal, 90% of the time you are topped up by the government as you do not earn the commission needed. OTE are not accurate either
Pros
Good place to progress
Cons
Poor pay and long hours

Great environment, love the team, can be good opportunities for promotion/training courses. Minimum pay but that’s what you sign up for they don’t hide it.

A fantastic place to work!
Area Manager (Current Employee) - York, North Yorkshire - 1 August 2023
I joined the business in 2016 and have progressed through the ranks with the business from having no experience in Sales or Estate Agency to now becoming an Area Manager after 7 years with the business. If you have the drive and the passion to progress the business will not hold you back!
Pros
Bonus & Commission Structure

Great to gain experience
Sales Negotiator (Current Employee) - United Kingdom - 22 July 2023
Connells are great with the opportunity to allow someone to grow and develop as an estate agent, management is always there to help, However targets are a little unrealistic but if you put in the hard work they can be achieved.
