Low pay, Easy job, No progression, Pushy staff/management.
Security Officer (Former Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 28 July 2020
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedOn the downside minimum wage, long locations, pushy management-''My way or the highway'' mindset.
Minimum wage. They advertise ''up to'' 8.72-9.50. They pay minimum wage-only on rare exceptions and after long negotiations they attempt to higher your salary, so don't have high expectations.
Commission based company-They take a commission on your salary so don't want to increase your pay, as they are reducing their salary.
Send you to long locations. They pressure you to travel to long distances as a 'ONE OFF'. If you EVER agree, BIG mistake, they'll keep asking you to go. (Best advice-NEVER EVER agree to a long distance shift, stay local.)
Overall work was good, when working with a partner security officer. Management never shows up and never see them after starting employment, unless perhaps you get into a disciplinary. Everything is over the phone as a security officer. Can be fun as a job/long hours standing at the podium with occasional patrols off the store. Some stores more shoplifters than others. Your regulate your own breaks-store staff/management are observing-snitch on you if you take too long (Don't understand the meaning off ''Mind your own business''/ Way too intrusive off what other people are doing.)
Usual day-Come in on-site, phone Cordant to sign in/or they phone you. Stay on the podium, monitor CCTV, patrol. Break 1 hour for a 8 hour shift or 2 half an hour breaks. Finish shift. Staff ring you to cover other guards who are absent/far shifts (Don't pick far, or management will keep picking on you.)
Good as a temporary job if you can't find -
Pros
Easy Job.
Cons
Low pay, No progression, Pushy staff/management.

Awful - AVOID if you like to be able to afford things and have a social life
Security Officer (Former Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 5 May 2021
Cannot and will not pay holiday properly, clueless management, operations managers are no better. No development or advancement opportunities at all. Handbook states that the company will help train its employees but when you ask for it you will not get it. Hourly rate is less than everyone else on site and will not go up. They will ring you up on your very few rest days trying to bully you to come into work for no incentive, There is no work life balance with Cordant I would advise you stay away.
Pros
The people I worked with made it bare-able for the time I was there
Cons
Ridiculous hours, Awful management, will harass you to cover shifts on your few days off.

Good hours
Retail Security Officer (Current Employee) - Birmingham - 27 November 2019
Good hours if you want to do but over all no respect, no regard, poor pay and too much travelling. Too much lies, never fulfill what ever they say don’t believe them.
But yeah few of them in Cordant you could say yeah they are helpful but otherwise the whole management is messed up.

Minimum wage for maximum hours
Security Officer (Current Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 11 January 2019
Pretty disappointing for such a large company, had zero training from the company and put into a site where had numerous staffing issues which affected my own role.
Pros
Contracted hours
Cons
Sick pay

Worst company to work for
Security Officer and data entry (Former Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 24 February 2018
They promise you guarantee hours but the hours you actually get are a joke. You have to travel more than 50 miles instead of 20 miles radius that you are supposed to be covering, you don't get paid for the travel costs and your managers couldn't care less. You are supposed to be available 24/7. even after finishing your 12 hour shift you get calls from control that they need someone in 4 hours. If you don't do it, it gets recorded in to your company's profile and than you are not offered any jobs for a while. Worst company I ever worked for avoid at all costs
Pros
None
Cons
lack of hours, not getiing paid for your travel expenses
