Retail Security Officer (Zero Hour Contract) (Current Employee) - Sheffield - 21 December 2020
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedOverall not a bad company to work for. Management is a bit of a joke. I once waited over a month for my manager to reply to my message. He doesn’t reply properly now. My shifts get taken off me for no reason, without anyone telling you this. You have to wait 20 minutes plus to get through to the call centre for anything including reporting an incident or sick line. If the control centre ring you and you don’t answer (even if you are at work) they put it down as no contact. You are moved from store to store, so you don’t know who’s barred and who the local shoplifters are. The company is crying out for staff but won’t give you much work.
Pros
Work during Covid-19
Cons
No contact, Bad Management.

Its ok company with some advantages. Area manager was ok and helpful and I was given a decent amount of shifts every month if I was willing to work at short notice and travel long distances.
Pros

Cons
Some time can feel over worked

No Respect no life
Security Officer (Former Employee) - Sheffield - 29 July 2018
if your looking for a company that's none appreciative, liers, awful team members then this company is for you all I got is abuse from staff members, false accusations and when the time came I was thrown under the bus for all the mistakes that happened. You work long hours basic pay and a lot of work to do that's to much for the money you get paid.
Pros
Payday
Cons
Long hours no social life

It was Okay
Security Officer (Current Employee) - Sheffield - 9 February 2018
Cordon Security is not a very organised company. your line managers is not interested in helping their employees. When employee is ill and wants to go home because he or she cannot work. Cordont will charge them fine because they are ill.

Decent pay
FRONT OF HOUSE RECEPTIONIST/ADMIN (Former Employee) - SHEFFIELD, UK - 2 March 2017
The hours are very long and unsociable. A typical day involves you turning up at the site, taking over from the officer and dealing with a range of issues. The management wasn't too bad as there's always room for improvement. The hardest part of the job i guess is the long working hours.
Pros
Decent pay. Way to make good money whilst not being under pressure
Cons
Unsociable hours and loneliness

Go nowhere job
Security Officer (Former Employee) - Sheffield - 9 September 2016
If you want a job that will go nowhere and minimum wage this is the job for you. Only 7 hour per week contract.
Very rarely see you're manager, can never got hold of someone at control room may be on the phone for 20 mins plus. If you work retail you get asked to do one thing at the store and Cordant want you to do it another way. Iv seen guards ask to leave store as they didn't like them, just for how the looked. You need to stay on the stores good side as they control if you stay at the store not Cordant, if you get asked to leave that's you're hours gone
Need to watch you're back as other guards will try and grass you up for nothing and brown nose management.
No support, no help, no nothing.
DON'T WORK FOR THIS COMPANY.
Only thing that I would say is good is that the staff at the stores are brilliant to work with, made some really good friends.
Pros
Good staff at the stores you work at.
Cons
No help from management, poor pay, no chance of progression

shocking company
security guard (Current Employee) - Sheffield - 3 April 2015
Shocking company to work for, area manager you see once a blue moon and when you ring them they don't answer. The company want you to do one thing and the store another thing. No chance of promotion at all.
pay is minimum wage, if it's you're day off they ring you up and put pressure on you to do a shift somewhere. I work 6 days a week and still get phone calls to work my day off.If you're face doesn't fit in the store you will be gone iv seen this a few times with other guards.
The only reason I'm with this shocking company is to provide for my family as soon as I get something else I'm gone and I can't wait for that day to come.
STAY AWAY!!!!
Pros
Good staff at the stores
Cons
Long hours, poor management, poor wages, shocking hours

Not Bad
Front of house receptionist Administrator (Current Employee) - Sheffield, ENG - 28 March 2015
I have worked for this company for a while and they seem good. The management are not bad either even-though there is room for improvement as its the case with many companies. On a daily basis, i enjoy most parts of the job but the long hours are a killer.
Pros
Good pay
Cons
Long hours
