Flexible fun working

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Being able to be flexible with hours is brilliant and the main positive of the job. I found it great but personally after Covid working from home can be lonely.

Great place to work

Lovely people, great culture, flexible, not very diverse ethnically, bureacratic, slow to change, beautiful scenery, can br stressful, at time you work beyond your hours

Good to work for

Good place to work, do well for the service they provide to people. Good pay and benefits. Managers who listen and take the time to improve outcomes and service

Good place to work

It's a decent council to work for, but understaffed. My pay got messed up a couple of times because they were overworked. It took months to get straightened out.

Relaxed and friendly workplace

Really enjoyed the team and working, the hardest part of the job were the quiet periods where there was no work to do but other than that, team was all lovely, supportive and really valued a work/life balance.

Pros

Flexi working

Cons

Boring

Productive and many benefits

It is a good company to work for. You are trained and have the chance to progress if you wish. You get flexi time which is very good as can start early and finish early, take time off for appointments and take flexi days off as well as your annual leave. Everyone I have come across have been very helpful and great to work with. I would recommend this company to work for.

Excellent Employer shame about the Salary

Highly recommend as an Employer but starting salary (lowest level of banding) = forever, no matter how productive or how long you’ve been in the role.

Pros

Excellent Staff Support - Health and Management

Cons

Poor pay rate

Good workers, poor management

Hard to sum up Cornwall Council, you have a good workforce, willing to work but poor management with little experience beyond their own career pathways. Little or no thought for the maintenance of Cornwall's highway system, no intention of maintaining the road and footway networks to a decent standard, the travelling public put at risk every day of the week due to poor maintenance and repairs. Infact repairs are not completed to a decent standard and sites are visited on a regular basis to fix previous permanent repairs. In my opinion, Cornwall Council should be contracted out completely to the private sector. This would include services including social services, adult care, roads and footways. Infact, everything that they are supposed to be providing the public with, yet aren't.

Pros

Nice earners.

Cons

Poor service.

Not recommended

Too busy reorganising to care about anything else. Everything is done on a shoestring. There is little support between departments. Central functions are not responsive to the departments they serve.

Busy but positive workplace

I like working here, the job is busy but fulfilling and keeps me on my toes. Enjoy my coworkers and I have a good team manager who ensures I get the support I need.

Nice place to work

Good benefits, pension, and flexi-time. Can sometimes be bureaucratic which gets in the way of proactiveness and efficiency. Departments can sometimes clash which causes unnecessary work

Pros

Flexi, pension

Cons

bureaucracy

Awful place to work

I can honestly say that Cornwall Council is the most awful place to work... They do NOT care about the workforce.. Its an ill run, miss managed and the powers to be are in a polite word idiots. I am ashamed at ever being associated with such an terrible place

Pros

None

Cons

Too many to list

Disorganised and full of uncertainties with constant changes and restructures

Full of uncertainties. Many restructures and constant changes which makes you feel unsettled as to whether you will still have a job at the end of the year. A certain amount of disorganisation along with not being able to get the job done because you have to jump through so many hoops to get work signed off by different departments, very disorganised and not thought out. On the flip side good flexible working though and life / work balance and good pension and holiday allowance.

Pros

Flexible working

Cons

Low pay

Not Good to work for

Overworked, unrealistic expectations from employer. Management very punitive and dictate. No understanding of work pressuresIf your face fits all well and good if not you don't stand a chance when employed by them

Poor service

High caseloads, managers are supportive but the case load is high no life and work balance as you have to work at home as well after work. Team members are also very supportive

Excellent work

Great opportunity and growth involved. So many areas to progress in and the conical are very official so you don’t have to worry about getting messed about!
