Avoid CSL
LGV 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Lutterworth - 5 October 2022
For the last 4 months that I worked for CSL I never seen so much tension in people’s life’s. Company very often not paying drivers there salary that they worked for. There is no month that you wouldn’t hear from a driver that missing large amount of payment or hasn’t hasn’t been payed at all. HR and payroll doesn’t responding back to email or phone calls. Senior management which are responsible for sending payments to the drivers are messing around and often don’t send the payments on time. Decision to close one of there depo, drivers found out via email.

well paid driving job
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Exeter, Devon - 22 September 2022
I have been working at corporate solutions for just over 18months. For a driving job the pay is very good especially as it does not involve any sleeping out. It also doesn't entail long distance driving the furthest you drive is penzance and bournemouth. The most challenging thing for me is working under the transport manager. He is completely out of his depth and as a result you have to think for yourself a lot and make decisions he should be making which can be a little frustrating as a driver. If you need to speak to him at all on the phone you have no chance as he will not pick the phone up resulting in you being left in the deep end having to make decisions he should be making. I do enjoy working for corporate though and hope to stay for many more years and would recommend the place to any driver.

on the whole good company
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Exeter, Devon - 19 September 2022
The company have good range of modern fleet all no more then 3 years old. The shifts are nn average 10 hours. Involves a lot of walking around which is good as keep you healthy compared to other driving jobs. The couple in the office are helpful and fair and good at their jobs. The weakest link in the setup is the transport manager. He can not do the job very well, is not very fair as he gives his mates the easy runs monday to friday , and will just ignore you when you try and speak to him about anything work related.

Good bunch of drivers
LGV Driver (Current Employee) - Exeter, Devon - 17 July 2022
I have worked at csl for about 6 months but am looking to leave because i can't put up with the useless and unfair transport manager. He has favourite drivers who he has around his house for coffee and gives them the easy runs while the others have to do all weekends and the long runs. The second in command is a really fair bloke who goes out his way to help you
Pros
Good place to work
Cons
Useless transport manager

not your typical driving job
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Exeter, Devon - 28 June 2022
The job is not for everyone as it entails a lot of walking around over 6 miles per shift so it helps you stay healthy. you drive a range of modern units no older then 3 years old. There are some brand new mercedes now and the other units are volvo's. The training lasts for a week so your confident when your put on your own. The two managers in the office one of them will do anything to help you out and go above and beyond. He has taken over most responsibilities in exeter The other manager luckily now you dont have much to do with as he simply could not do the job and was useless.
Pros
not too long shifts
Cons
transport manager

modern units hard work
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - exeter - 5 June 2022
I worked for corporate solution for a year a Exeter. The job involves a bit more walking then your usual driving job walking over 5 miles per shift. The units were all modern ranging for 2019 and 2020 plates all very good and nice to drive. I left as I could not work under the transport manager any more I didn't agree with how he run the place and the final straw came when I tried to ring him about something personal and he did not even respond to my phone call or messages. But overall Corporate a good place to work especially if you want to try and keep the weight off your hips due to the walking about you do.
Pros
good shifts walk a lot on shift
Cons
holds up at rdc

Assistant turning things around
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Exeter - 7 April 2022
At the end of last year under the transport manager morale was at all time low, drivers were leaving every week, runs were getting constantly dropped and the company was slowly becoming the laughing stock amongst the other hauliers. The assistant then took over responsibilities at at the turn of the year, he got rid of the silly Monday to Friday club set up by the transport manager and made the rota fair for everyone. Since the turn of the year morale has increased due to the assistant being able to plan, runs are no longer being dropped and the company is no longer becoming the laughing stock. Overall now is a great company to work for and it doesn't matter about the inadequate transport manager as you now work under the assistant.

Good place to work
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Exeter - 5 April 2022
I've worked for csl for the past year. Have enjoyed myself good pay, the shifts are all good not too long and all the drivers get on well with each other. The transport manager is not very good at his job and can't plan anything but all the drivers are use to this and it's easy to get around once your use to the way things work.

Awful units to drive. Active job.
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Exeter, Devon - 3 April 2022
You'll break a sweat working here. It's a good graft. Can be extremely frustrating dealing with poorly stacked pallets, if the trailer is not loaded securely, you will tip pallets during transport. This is not only going to add an hour on the day clearing up, its extremely dangerous, the weight of some of these poorly stacked pallets is ridiculous, and if you get crushed, your there until staff arrive in the morning. I was being a tool whilst moving milk on a ppt and only sheer luck stoped me snapping both my legs. This didn't bother me much, was nice to have a driving job that included 20 - 30,000 steps per day. But the lorries, my god they are ridiculous. How some pennpusher can sit there and lark around with the electronics like that is just unbelievable. You just press go and steer the thing, working nights driving a vehicle that just shuts you off and does its own thing is madness. It didn't seem to bother anyone else, but I couldn't stick it. They pay better than other company's but the units are not for proper drivers. They apparently have alot of staff come and go, there's alot of reasons to not enjoy this, but the pays good, people are good and you'll stay fit.
Pros
Good active job. Excellent staff in transport hq.
Cons
Bad units. Not for drivers

Incompetent transport manager
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Exeter - 12 March 2022
Transport manager is useless and in competent. Running company into the ground. Meets his favourites out of work for socials and gives his favourites Monday to Friday expecting everyone else to work their weekends. If you need to speak with your manager he will just ignore you. Its a shame good company completely being ruined by such a incompetent Transport manager. The second in command sorin is good bloke whose brought back fairness amongst the rota but has he's hands tied a lot by the incompetent manager.

Friendly place to work
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Sawley, Derbyshire - 8 February 2022
I started as a driver for CSL out of Aldi distribution (Sawley) in October 2021. If you like short shifts and want to be home every night with good money it’s the place to work, 4 on 2 off shift pattern so you will definitely be working weekends, for day work most of there runs start from 10am to 12pm if you get your finger out you and everything runs smoothly you can be done in 8 hrs. 2 stores per day Loading can be a pain in the warehouse at busy times, unloading at stores can be a pain if their not ready for you, but overall a very clean easy well paid job.
Pros
Good money/short shifts
Cons
Repetitive

Positive place to work & very welcoming to new starters
Transport Manager (Current Employee) - Droitwich, Worcestershire - 10 January 2022
After only starting 3 months ago all members of staff have been welcoming. My manager has supported me with changes that I have wanted to make. The day varies from planning the following days work to ensuring all previous days work has been signed off for invoicing. All vehicles on site must be checked before use & I deal with any issues that may occur. Its a good challenge to plan the drivers schedule as well as finding loads to collect on the back of that job.
Pros
One team culture Room to expand the working site People happy to let you get on with the job in hand
Cons
Information for each site more readily available More structured induction process for new starters

Nice place to work with great people
Administrator (Current Employee) - Head Office - 1 November 2021
CSL is a dynamic place to work with a great supportive team around you. My role is fast paced and ever evolving which is great if you like to be challenged. As an industry with it's own struggles, example: driver recruitment issues, CSL are innovative and forward thinking and are continuing to grow and take on more opportunities throughout this time.
Pros
Invest and develop staff, nice people, growing company with opportunities
Cons
Can be fast paced which isn't for everyone
