Good place to work
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Exeter - 5 April 2022
I've worked for csl for the past year. Have enjoyed myself good pay, the shifts are all good not too long and all the drivers get on well with each other. The transport manager is not very good at his job and can't plan anything but all the drivers are use to this and it's easy to get around once your use to the way things work.

Hard Job made more difficult by RDC and stores.
LGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Exeter - 5 September 2020
So I worked for CSL for nearly 2 months and in that time I learned several things, My Transport Manager was a brilliant bloke, Helpful and really people friendly and willing to help. Full marks have to go to some of the other drivers too not only CSL drivers but other haulier drivers, They were for the most part extremely helpful and a friendly bunch. The trucks have been completely ruined by some pen pusher who probably has never set foot in a truck let alone driven one. They have basically taken all control from the driver, No Kickdown, No Manual control over the gearbox and limited to 53mph. Total gutless wonders.
The trailers were also barely fit for purpose with the floors lifting at the edge by the back doors (try loading milk trolleys in and see what happens!!!), the doors of One trailer, in particular, was badly damaged with half a handle and the catch at the top of the door didn't even hook onto its catch as it was so bent. The internal doors were also in bad shape with some barely moveable and some missing big chunks from the bottom. For a company so intent on showing a big clean image their trailers certainly left a lot to be desired. CSL take NOTE.!!!!
Then we get onto the RDC's confusing way of labelling the pallets and calling stuff bulk, then you would get non-food and then some ambient would be bulk or vice versa. It's not easy to pick up but I was getting used to it come to the end. Also do not expect pallets of stock picked by the pickers to be all the same shape as the pallets and it also depends on what picking teams were on at the time of picking. -
Pros
Good people to work with, Camaraderie between drivers is great, Get fit, and John the TM has to have a special mention.
Cons
Long Hours, Some bad runs, Trailers especially need sorting out asap, and the wages.

Avoid CSL
LGV 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Lutterworth - 5 October 2022
For the last 4 months that I worked for CSL I never seen so much tension in people’s life’s. Company very often not paying drivers there salary that they worked for. There is no month that you wouldn’t hear from a driver that missing large amount of payment or hasn’t hasn’t been payed at all. HR and payroll doesn’t responding back to email or phone calls. Senior management which are responsible for sending payments to the drivers are messing around and often don’t send the payments on time. Decision to close one of there depo, drivers found out via email.
