Costa Coffee
Costa Coffee Employee Review
Stressful workplace where staff aren't appreciated.
Barista (Current Employee) - Wolverhampton - 25 September 2023
Truly don't recommend working here - the company don't care about staff whatsoever. No support on shifts, constantly understaffed and overworked. If your store doesn't make enough sales one week, there isn't enough money to cover staffs working hours despite being a multi billion pound company that should be able to pay their staff. This also means if anything like air conditioning breaks, the store will be unable to get it fixed as it's out the budget of the store. Constantly made to feel guilty for calling in sick, it makes you feel obliged to go in despite being unable to work. Managers just sit in the back and offer no help. Absolutely no structure on shifts either. Staff don't receive proper training, just thrown in and expected to learn on shift but are then told off when they do something wrong.
Pros
Free drinks
Cons
Overworked and understaffed

Good place to work but can be difficult at times
Good place to work if you get along with your co-workers, but if you don’t can be hard. Some managers are great others are unfair and target staff members. Very understaffed so found myself doing 4 jobs instead of 1 so the amount they paid for that was not great. Very stressful and nothing was done about that even though higher management were aware.
Pros
Free drinks on shift and 50% food
Cons
no support, not enough staff on shift so you’d be doing 3 jobs at once.

Don’t do it
Absolutely appalling company to work for in all honesty. Bullying that comes from upper management as well as gaslighting. They pick and choose their favourites then cause conflict between them. They allow bad behaviour and even reward it. The most enjoyable part of the job was the customers. Everything else was awful you aren’t treat like a human at all and they just don’t seem to care. Don’t work for this company. You’ll last a few months max then leave, their staff turn around is shocking
