Manic work environment. No company strategy

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
You are promised everything to lull you into a false sense of security. Many people I have spoken to feel as though there isn’t any clear progression and progression seems to be if your face fits. Work life balance is shocking. You are expected to work late and sometimes sacrifice your weekends with little thanks. You get no time in lieu so if you do give up your weekends you won’t be able to claim your time back. Pay is poor and pay rises seem to go to those big personalities who can throw their weight around. Salary is never advertised and it’s not uncommon to find people who have less responsibilities in their role are on more money than you. Stay away from this company a lot of changes are happening and there isn’t clear direction for the business.

Pros

Benefits outside of salary are ok

Cons

Long hours. Little opportunity

Good company to work for

The support from my manager I cannot fault, they have gone above and beyond to help me progress. However the company’s security recently with people high up leaving delays peoples progression and promotions. It’s unsettling as what’s going to happen when high up people leave. Bar that I cannot fault the company.

Very stressful and not nice place

I wanted to work in a friendly place with opportunities for development but this is a stressful place! bosses lie that people will get contracts if you do a good job and you will be fired anyway. no emphasis on health and safety. I do not recommend to anyone

Pros

Nothing

Cons

poor management

Pressurised but fun

Very little initial training and they expect you to hit the ground running. I hadn’t worked on RC Frame but was expected to know all about it. Lots of stress/pressure but overall an ok place to work but mainly because of the people. Lots of in-house courses which you had to attend. Build Schedules often not up to date and Site Managers expect you to read their mind when it comes to material Del dates. They like their sacrificial lambs when build is behind!!

Cons

Pressure and blame culture even when it’s not your fault!!

Good company, but salary not...

As I already wrte above...Good atmosphere at work, good workmates. Not adequate management for quality requirements for this job. Very poor possibility to be promoted.

Jokers for managers

All in all not a terrible place to work, other than the people it’s ran by, supervisors and the shift pattern. The higher people will say one thing and do the other and or if you ask for something be ready to ask another couple of times as they seem to take anything on board. Also they don’t talk to you even a simple “hello you alright” The supervisors have favourites and you can see the difference in how people are treated. And the shifts are fine one week but the week after you literally have no social life up until the weekend. I personally think the money for what you do is no where near good enough, literally minimum wage there or there abouts and for this kind of work and with how much profit the company make you’d expect it to be higher as we are the ones making them there money along with people on site.

Pros

Day shift, other lads who work there

Cons

Late shift, managers & supervisors

Too much pressure put on people when houses need to be handed over

People are moved miles away with no petrol allowance where it would be better for the company if people who lived nearer the sites would have to use so much petrol and would be more beneficial.

Pros

Free work boots and ppe

Cons

Travelling to sites of 40 miles or more wear and tear on people’s vehicles

Steer clear

Do not sell your soul , poor management , box ticking HR dept, directors who are only interested in themselves. A real culture of backstabbers and selfish attitude

Pros

None

Cons

Worst developer i have had the displeasure of working for

Not great for inclusion

Some department management would often discriminate against staff they were in charge of. The job itself is great, the support and management structure was awful, and the lies put down and supported by other management who had no involvement was utterly disappointing

It's a man's world

Awful management and still a man's world.Moody management, not interested in knowing the staff or how you are feeling or doing at work. They are snobs and look down on you if you don't have the equal qualifications as they do.Have favourites and they get angry at meetings and can swear

Pros

None

Cons

Awful management

Not a nice place

Save yourself a lot of trouble and stress don't bother working for this wendy house builder and go to work for a proper firm who value staff and continue there training to progress up the pay scale . Don't expect team work every man for his self here , constant put downs from management and blatant favourism .Met lots of people there due to the unbelievable staff turnover must be a record , glad I finally got out .

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Everything

Poor management , poor training, unachievable workload

Working longer hours and having to work your day off is almost expected as you are pressured into living and breathing the company. Being in constant fear for your job, bullied, threats and constantly singled out is the norm. The salary and holiday package does not outweigh how the management make you feel worthless, the training package is none existent and endless unnecessary paperwork makes the daily workload unachievable. Lack of tools for the job and outdated systems makes work so much harder than it needs to be. The company ethos of culture transformation does not exist in some regions/departments.

Pros

Salary / holiday

Cons

Lack of training, Workload, culture, Work life balance

Construction company

I was employed as a healyh and safety inspector to audit sites for safety compliance. The unfortunate thing was that the upper management wanted compliance at zero cost even when there was no ther way but to pend money to hire exta labour.

Supervisor are morons

Do you enjoy working rotating shifts that destroy your sleep pattern? Then this job is for you. Do you enjoys supervisor and management being a unorganised mess which cause you never meet target and because of this never get the production bonuses, to top it all off you will be blamed for being to slow? Then this job is for you. Do you enjoy blatant favouritism exercised by supervisor, where hard work isn't rewarded but boot licking, being a suck up to the nepotistic supervisor are? Then guess what, this job is for you. Do you have no self respect? Then great! this job is for you.

Pros

Wage is alright.

Cons

Everything else.

Lovely working environment

It is a nice work environment where most of managers are competent and have over 30 years experience. Unfortunately, except for the management which works direct, we get payed thru Munnellys which has some of the lowest rates in the industry. The job is only 5 mins from home and what it lacks in remuneration it makes up in more time with my family.

Stay for the money - leave for your reputation and peace of mind.

A company with dishonest management throughout. A culture of fear and interdepartmental rivalry and protectionism is deliberately encouraged and cultivated. The company ethics in how they deal with sub contractors, consultants and their own staff is very poor. Stay for the money - leave for your own personal reputation.

Pros

They pay well

Cons

Pretty much everything else

Stressful, Little to no work life balance, poor management, salary is shocking, ALL ROUND TERRIBLE

On a day to day basis, depending what site your on it can be stressful, pressured and misrable. management is poor !! senior management is even worse, apart from the one odd here and there. workplace culture is that site management is the bee's knee's and what they say's go's. yet others in senior positions or experts in there position cannot have a say in it. the salary is so poor! even when working at the company for many years, and expressing not only the need for a pay rise but how you are deservent of one !!! others who are new to you position have come in on the same , some times more money then you. the work load is not worth the pay ! - you are riddle with constant work, and more and more till you stress so much you have to sign yourself off. i do NOT recommend this company at all... the hardest part of the job is knowing you are just a number for them when in the beginning they sell you a dream about a 'family feel', 'helping hand', its all rubbish. dont work with them.... find somewhere bigger and better

Pros

Bonus's

Cons

salary, management, senior management, work load, unreleastic time frames etc etc etc
