In regards to salary and benefits - sleep over enhancements are the easiest pennies you'll earn. Advancement is poor, opportunities don't come often and in my experience you're offered a new opportunity to later be told you don't qualify because the numbers aren't there (always about money) I've been in the same role over three years and there's no further development for me in the near future. Pressure and responsibilities from management are ridiculous, unrealistic and stressful which massively effects staffs mental health and 'get up and go' in work. They will always have time to criticise you but not praise. My paticular manager is an absolute diamond but have had several encounters and working relationships with unapproachable managers

Pros

Sleep over pay

Cons

Work load overwhelming

Draining demanding and bullies

Long hours expected to pick up shifts and do overtime. Management and staff are bullies lots of favouritism avd if you complain you get told to keep quiet and moved to a diffrent property service users not treated that well always short staffed so you end up staying longer and picking up peoples shifts

Pros

None

Cons

Long hours no praise or job satisfaction

a really fulfilling job. A very person centred and inclusive culture

Like all support worker jobs, the pay is not great and there is weekend work, but the job is so rewarding. Creative support is a very person centred organisation. The hours can sometimes be long, but you don't have to work above your contracted hours if you dont have to.They hold high values and always treat the people they support with the utmost respect and dignity. And they have a clear whistleblowing policy in place and the managers do follow up on any concerns that might get raisedWe also get to do fun things in calderdale like support people out on day trips and things of their choosing like swimming or bowling.Ive worked in a few care agencies and creative support is definitely one of the better ones, I'm really happy in my job

Pros

rewarding, shifts go quickly, good team

Cons

can be long hours if working some late shifts

Supportive Organisation

As a Manager at Creative Support, I can honestly say it is one of the single most supportive companies I have worked for. There is so much support available and a lot of resources- the training is phenomenal. I don't just speak for management, the support workers have the same benefits with bespoke training, paid for NVQs, free access to mental health support. The benefits are ongoing. The service that I work at is more like being with family. The culture is extremely supportive and everyone is always looking to learn more and more. The service users are a part of that family, Lanchester Court is a real community. In regards to career progression, I started at the company a few years back as a support worker and have worked my way upwards to Senior Support Worker, Team Manager and now Registered Manager. There is always room for progress if you want it!

Pros

Progression, Positive Culture, Training

None

Atwood terrace

The care workers there are some of the very best there is. It's a shame one cannot say the same for management. Their support to staff is minimal. Also the pay is low for the long hours and the stress that can occur due to the client group

Pros

Cannot fault the shop floor staff

Cons

Long hours, poor pay, lack of management support

Awful company

Awful company from start to finish. Management do not care about you. Treated as just a number I was qualified for the highest end of salary scale yet I received the lowest and challenged this manager agreed yet for 18 months my salary never raised or did I get paid back the amount I was underpaid. when I left I was owed a years holiday pay to which they deducted half saying I had overtaken the year before which was not true. Would not recommend this company at all.

Pros

none

Cons

Awful management, last minute rotas, rubbish pay, not much care for service users.

Nice place and loving clients. Poor management!

Company need to value staff and not treat as a number to fill in hours of support. Pay is too low and no life balance for employees. Increase workload with no benefits.

Creative support is a good place for training but the work cultures are absolutely not acceptable.

I had a very bitter experience working with creative support. I put in all my best but the salary was to poor. Many times they employed managers who has no experience and they make working environments absolutely unsuitable for staff which make their services users and clients suffer. The management are not ready to welcome ideas from staff

Good leadership and values based not for profit

I have worked for Creative Support for over 10 years, progressing to different roles. The senior management team are genuine and focused on the people we support and our front line staff. During this time in particular the company have pushed to ensure the safety of staff and service users. Staff are supported and valued and the benefits package is brilliant.

Pros

Excellent training

Cons

You will be exepcted to share the company's values and ethos (not really a con)

Poorly managed

Services are managed inadequatly staff turn over is very high and wages are low. Staff must pay expences for travel which are essential to job role and paid in arrears. Being on low pay and spending £80/90 a month of travel makes it very difficult to get by. Due to high turnover case loads are high and service users do not get the best support they deserve.

Terrible place to work

I really can't understand how this company keep getting their funding for services, they are absolutely awful! Managers are untrained and very nasty, staff tell lies, they are very disrespectful to the service users and I have heard staff ridiculing thrm. I was so glad to leave.Very high staff turn over because when staff have sometimes worked just one day they just don't come back again. The salary you can't live off and not much training.

Good Team work, poor management

Loved working here, however the pay does not reflect the Job role and management is a bit hit and miss, some flexibility with hours supporting those with childcare needs, however training although paid for initially takes place at head office in stockport, so travel is required, problems with pay from time to time, but was soon sorted, overall not a bad company to work for.

Caring, busy and rewarding workplace!

If you are looking for a rewarding place to work then Creative Support provides you with a fast paced and friendly environment in which to develop. Management really care about the service users and their staff. You will be supported in your role with regular supervisions and opportunities for internal training. The nature of the not for profit sector means that the salary isn't great, but it is in line with other similar organisations. You will get to work with like-minded people in an organisation that is making a positive difference in people's lives.

Very poor salary for the amount of work

As a current administrator for the Stockport office I feel that the organisation offers very poor pay for general administrative staff and even roles advertised are offering extremely poor pay for the amount of work expected to carry out as per duty. I understand that it’s a non profit organisation, however the expectations of the staff based on the role is very high and staff are overworked for such poor pay, and we are expected to carry out weekend work 9-5 on such poor pay and low motivation. It would be nice to see staff get something back for hard work such as reward and/ or higher salary band as other organisations have better perks and much higher salary for work expected

Pros

Friendly team

Cons

Low salary, over worked, under pressure, weekend work

Great workplace

I used to work in Warwick and the job was great as well as the people there, staff, service users, management. If you do what you are asked to do, then you will progress really fast. Pay above minimum wage. Great training. Management always available to transfer their knowledge.

Pros

Flexible hours. Pay above minimum wage.

Cons

None
