Good place to work
HR Advisor (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 17 November 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI loved working for the CPS and would like to return there. Lovely culture, great leaders and lots of great colleagues. The only downside it’s too much work and can be a stressful environment.

Flexible hours and wfh
Casework Assistant (Current Employee) - Liverpool, Merseyside - 6 September 2023
Decent enough work, flexi-time is really good for building up time off and leaving early. Usually understaffed and overworked, could be better management and pay pretty poor but no worse than any other admin job. Worked with really nice people.

Horrific
HR (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 22 July 2023
The salaries are shocking compared to the market average but that’s clear from the outset. However, the lack of flexible working and support from management is the worst part. No consideration of a work life balance
Pros
None
Cons
Terrible salary. Poor Management

I did not enjoy working at CPS as i felt i gained no new skills or have any personal development.
Administrator (Former Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 14 July 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? I was able to work remotely and i liked the people in my group. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? I was not trained on a lot of stuff and did the same repetitive job for 2 years. This resulted in me not gaining any new skills and also losing the ones i already had. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very quiet and people didn’t come into the office much. What is a typical day like for you at the company? My work was all admin. I had no calls to answer. My typical day would be doing repetitive admin tasks.

Productive and fun workplace
Paralegal (Current Employee) - Leeds, West Yorkshire - 12 May 2023
Really love working here. Very interesting, keeps you on your feet and you learn a lot about the justice system (good starting point for those going into law)

interesting work but stressful
Senior Crown Prosecutor (Former Employee) - Chelmsford City Centre, Essex - 24 April 2023
There is both human interest and intellectual challenge in the work . The problem is the workload is such that you do not feel you have time to devote to each case. I had about 100 cases and worked long hours but still struggled to keep up.

Bad experience
Paralegal Assistant (Former Employee) - Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear - 18 April 2023
Very unorganised training by people who can't be bothered, management underhanded, untrustworthy and are only supportive when they think it's beneficial to them, felt bullied and humiliated if you made a mistake during your training.

Good employer, respectful.
Paralegal Assistant (Current Employee) - Norwich, Norfolk - 10 April 2023
Very secure, they value staff and treat you well. Training good. Varied work. Colleagues very supportive. Pay needs to be more for level of responsibility.

Exploitative bullying incompetent management
Senior Crown Prosecutor (Former Employee) - London - 18 February 2023
Don’t go there unless you’re absolutely desperate - and avoid CPS London at all costs. Nepotism abounds and cruelty reigns. The only good aspects are some of your Co-workers and the quality of the work - both of which positives management do their best to destroy
Pros
Interesting work
Cons
Bullying and undermining

Productive and diverse
Student Local Scrutiny and Involvement Panel scheme (Former Employee) - Manchester - 29 December 2022
I only joined this company on two occasions. It were two scrutiny panels where we discussed if Criminal cases were judged fairly. And the people organising those events seemed very helpful and informative. I think this is a place where I would love to work in the future.

Brilliant, flexible and rewarding
Finance Manager (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 16 November 2022
The cps has alot of brilliant people working for it. There are good learning a development opportunities and plenty of opportunity for promotion. The only negative is no jobs are advertised internally so promotion is always against outside candidates
Pros
Flexible working, good work life balance, learning a development
Cons
Pay, Recruitment

Very nice people
Casework Administrator (Current Employee) - United Kingdom - 6 September 2022
Decent place to work with very helpful colleagues and managers. However can get boring due to similar work every day. Would recommend if you like working on a screen all day.

Amazing colleagues but please hire more staff
Paralegal Assistant (Current Employee) - London - 28 June 2022
A couple of things The Court managers I've encountered are amazing and colleagues are doing all they can but the CPS is severely understaffed. I feel so overworked yet i try to finish all my tasks on time even logging in after work hours to do so yet the work keeps coming, it actually feels so demotivating now. I'm not surprised so many are leaving
Pros
Flexi-time, Privilege days, Best colleagues and manager
Cons
Long Hours, Senior Management, Non existent career progression

Great workplace
CLERK (Former Employee) - Newcastle and Durhsm - 26 April 2022
Fantastic area to work in, very very interesting, good people and security, left to go back full time in motor trade, big mistake. If I had my chance over again I'd give anything to work for CPS
Pros
Interest in justice system
Cons
Qualifications and entry process to become a civil servant
