Disorganised chaos
Sales Manager (Former Employee) - Ashington, West Sussex - 7 March 2021
The company has no strategy, it is run by people with absolutely no understanding of bakery or their customers. The leadership are only interested in themselves and are not willing to listen to anyone down the chain who may actually know something more than they do. Poorly run, disorganised & chaotic. Expect to be under valued!
Pros
Free cake
Cons
Lots

I was fairly happy to work for CSM the only down side was the workload. I have worked with very nice people, there has always been good reason to socialise after work.

Csm are using old machinery which is forever breaking down
Food Production Operative (Current Employee) - Merseyside - 17 March 2020
Csm have really old machinery which is forever breaking down and leaves us workers with zero hour contracts less hours to earn each week as I'm forever receiving text messages stating the lines are down and to not come into work.

Dreadful management
Accounts Payable Clerk (Former Employee) - Wirral, Merseyside - 23 December 2019
Management are dreadful and have a horrible blame culture. Management can’t do the job themselves and blame others for their errors.
Very much if your face fits attitude. The way you are spoken to and treated is disgusting. Management need some real training on how to speak to staff and to bring them down from the “big I am” attitude they have.
Work is easy, but you are put down constantly. Would never return

When I started working there people were rude , nobody was telling you what exactly yoy need to do
Food Production Operative (Former Employee) - Bradford - 23 November 2019
When I started working there, nobody from the permanent staff explaned me what i need to do. Most of the workers were rude, impolite. For me personally management was poor, not enough agencies and people should do more than one thing.
Payment was coming on tome though.
All in all I dont like this working place

Easy work
General Labourer (Former Employee) - Bradford, West Yorkshire - 31 October 2019
I was a general worker so i just did what ever they told me to do including working on choctop which involved putting choclate on flapjacks or doing pinning which was to flatten the flap jacks

physical hard work
TEAM LEADER (Former Employee) - Ashington - 2 October 2019
Is a hard physical work where unfortunately is a matter from where you come from.
Making or packing cakes is not that easy when your management pusing you and always want more and faster. Good money, and opportunity to do overtimes, great shift pattern 4X4.
No chance to develop unless someone who is already on higher position like you.
Members are friendly and nice (most of them)
Pros
4 days off
Cons
12h of hard work

Good for part time
Operative (First Aider) (Former Employee) - Bradford - 19 September 2019
Fast paced mostly non fluent english speaking employees which creates problems at times, work is hard depending on your department, running is decent, pay was excellent until my shift was cancelled then the wage was not worth the workload, unsure what pay is like as of 2019, HR is quite big so helpful at times, management was too biased though with friends/partners in senior positions which creates problems when you have issues, strict rules obviously but not everyone was following them with due care.
If you work hard you can get to better positions unless you face issues with management then you will have a difficult time
Pros
Set shifts/ days, wide range of roles
Cons
Work can be crazy fast paced at times

Proof is in the bite
Training Officer (Current Employee) - Bradford, West Yorkshire - 17 September 2019
Bullying dictator site manager makes it an awful place to work. Doesn't sort out bullying culture but encourages it.
Staff turnover proves it. Few lazy staff in office just turn up and play at working.

Robots
Production Operative/Packer (Former Employee) - Bradford, West Yorkshire - 25 May 2019
Worked here last night in 10pm to 6am shift it was a nightmare all around. The place is under staffed I watched 1 person doing a 3 mans job.The managers and supervisors have got a really bad attitude they talk to you like they own you.I went toilet just took over 5 minutes come back down and the supervisor started giving me talk.Thats when I decided I'm not coming back to this place.I would recommend anyone and everyone not to work here. They don't have a clue on what they doing run the machines on full speed, and think the staff are robots who won't speak up.Spoke to a lot of they permanent staff they are all sick of this place and the management.
Pros
Very bad aches and pains
Cons
Good food

If you have a poker face you are ok
Line leader (Current Employee) - Daventry - 4 April 2019
If you do whatever they want is ok, but don’t try to show that you have a brain and actually can think for yourself. Avoid Pm shift, worst management team
Pros
Work all year
Cons
Just 1 break, stressful place, management pretend to listen to you
