Terrible place to work no support. If your face fits or your a yes person then you will fit right in. Get injured by individuals then left with no pay

Poorly organised due to new management
Support Worker (Current Employee) - Conifer - 3 December 2023
Working at Conifers and Marion for just over a year now, and its had its ups and downs but generally been a good place to work. However recently a change of management has taken place and the homes have taken a turn for the worse. No structure, rota never completed and available for staff, lack of funds to manage the residents days. Unable to contact the managers for emergency on the on-call. The mangers are family friends which makes it’s impossible to raise any concerns with anyone. I’ve raised concerns and nothing is done or actioned and met by regional manager with a negative response.

Positive work culture strong work ethic.
Activities Co-ordinator (Current Employee) - Hexham - 30 November 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The supportive staff and management. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The shifts are long so it is good to get rest on your days off. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Positive culture and ongoing training for the role. Feel people want you to succeed in your career. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Working with patients for most of the day with time off the ward to write notes up.

Work is challenging but rewarding. Long hours. Has a lot of potential to be good company but needs more staff on the floor and better support. Staff retention also poor.

All way short staffed, if your face fits you are ok if not then made to feel not welcome. You don't get a break even when eating you are not left alone.

Very poor
Support Worker/Carer (Former Employee) - Stevenage, Hertfordshire - 23 November 2023
It’s a popularity contest. If your face doesn’t fit with management they’ll be down your throat all the time. They don’t like to be challenged, and if you make a note of malpractice to them by one of their favourites then you’ll have a target on your back, be given all the worst jobs etc

The worst place I’ve ever worked with doing support 25yrs
Support Worker (Former Employee) - Crewe, Cheshire - 21 November 2023
I would look at the staff turn over and the amount of agency that they have because this alone is a red flag 🚩 the actually is amazing but the work environment is disgusting, it’s clicky and this is management.. management not friendly and welcoming at all and never walk around with a smile they are awful hence why staff leave.. if your not in the click your face won’t fit.. it’s mental health and believe me no compassion is shown in the place.. if you don’t have mental health before you go you definitely will when you leave, they do not care about staff at all it’s shocking
Pros
You do get a pot noodle on nights
Cons
No support given to staff at all

Jobs at Cygnet
Do not work here!!
Support Worker (Former Employee) - South Normanton - 20 November 2023
Honestly this may be the worst company to ever work for. Do not do it. They do not care about staff. If you disagree with anything you are just told to find a new job. They do not care about a work life balance. They will change your shift pattern without talking to anybody and once again, told it you don’t like it leave. Staff handling medication without training. The pay is awful. I could not recommend this company to anybody!! You get no break on a 12 hour shift.

I wouldn’t tell you to avoid it, but I wouldn’t tell you to rush there either.
Mental Health Support Worker (Former Employee) - Crewe, Cheshire - 16 November 2023
Some staff lovely, some not so much. Pot luck on the day. High staff turnover. Provide lots of training, some support, but support not always consistent after dealing with major incidents. Experience can depend if your in the “click” or not. No significantly bad experiences for me but did hear of some questionable practices from management. Also breaks are non existent as you are paid for that time.

Underpaid, under appreciated and undervalued.
Support Worker (Current Employee) - Bury, Greater Manchester - 14 November 2023
Senior management only care about ticking boxes. High influx of new staff led to experienced staff leaving, as this caused higher amounts of incidents due to language barriers, thus increasing work load and leaving wards unsafe. Very little support with supervision and line management - again managers only support with this to tick a box. High turn over of MDT members, leading to service users not having adequate care. Could write a book on the corruption, but it all gets covered up. With this being said, you’ll meet some great people (staff and service users) who make the job worthwhile. It truly is rewarding seeing service users being moved on.

Mental Health Support Worker . Learning disabilities (Former Employee) - South Normanton - 14 November 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Nothing. Vile company to work for. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Upper management not having a clue about the job, putting staff and patients at risk. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? If you're related to or know R. H olland you've got a job for life and are well protected. If not you're just another cannon foder What is a typical day like for you at the company? Depends where you work. No two units are the same.

Challenging but can be rewarding
MHSW (Former Employee) - Bury, Greater Manchester - 1 November 2023
Worked on Forestwood. Was a rewarding but challenging role yet time working on the ward was not helped by multiple changes in management and significant losses in the ward team and not helped by a high ward acuity. One of the managers who has now left the CAMHS service I found to be supportive however, when you needed them on the ward, they were difficult to find and on one occasion, the manager not communicating with staff did put staff at risk. Retention was not a thing bar the token gesture of a retention meeting with management so high turnover of staff and at one point, an even higher influx of new starters which put a lot of pressure on the regular staff and increased risk to service users and staff in part. Overall, wouldn’t work here again unless serious changes were made in the company’s approach to retaining staff and a proper pay packet was on offer for the work being done and for management to treat staff like human beings - as a lot of them treated staff like rubbish.
Pros
Can be rewarding
Cons
Management aren’t supportive, pay is not worth it for the job

Stressful and unsupportive management. Who put profits before staff safety.
Mental Health Support Worker (Current Employee) - Sheffield - 27 October 2023
It's a mixed bag on day to day. Some days are stressful some days are good but there's no guarantee. Once the 9-5 staff have left you've got no extra support if wards are unsettled. No support on weekends from management teams. Instead of putting extra support staff on shifts to ensure safety for everyone. Profits matter more. No senior management comes in on bank Holidays or weekends. The who deal with majority of day to day are lovely and as we are in the same boat of being under valued by higher up staff.
Pros
Free lunches.
Cons
No management support. Profits over safety.
