Cedar vale prison

Sitting outside somebody’s bedroom door for 12hours is not a job it’s babysitting, no time to breaks to eat but because you get paid for the full 12hours they think it makes it any better, how can you be hungry or need a toilet and can’t go is beyond me.

Pros

Decent wage

Cons

Management team

Clients lovely

No support from management, they are two faced and only support certain staff if your face fits, There’s a constant big turnover of staff and rely on agency staff and if they can’t get agency management feel it’s not there job to do it.

Low morale

Management was really bad. So many managers coming and going. For a hospital, standards were awful. I offered to manage the laundry but was never supported to actually do it and the bedding was rank, even after being washed it smelt so bad, it needed putting in the bin. Staff were not supported by the management and the food was cheap and basic. So much money wasted on mistakes. Staff morale very low, even though there were good staff.

Pros

Local to home and free parking

Cons

Everything else

The staff make the work bearable. Too much risk for minimum wage.

Summary says it all. Too much risk for pennies. Coming home battered and bruised to be scrutinised. Not my idea of fun or "work satisfaction". Wouldn't recommend a friend to be brutally honest.

Cons

Long hours

Support worker

If you go for this job as support worker it's important to understand the dangers, I was not told that every day you get attacked. This place is a very dangerous!! The staff are greet but you get no support or no praises off management. Also you have no breaks to yourself only to use the toilet. It's very long and stressful.

Pros

Free lunches

Cons

Very dangerous

Undescribable

Words Cant Describe, I wasn't looked after or treat with any respect. What more can I say as you probably want an open mind and wont believe anyone will write a positive review. Good luck finding a genuine one.

Support worker

Was told that they look after there staff which they clearly don't. Didn't like it if you had to change your day for a hosptail or doctors appointment. Staff let service users walk around with out shoes on. Loads of staff always on breaks. The staff smoking but was right by the garden where service users would be. Staff always moaning about the service users. The staff are also lazy and leave sick over night for the cleaners to clean up. Also mangers speak down to you

Pros

Free lunches and free car park

Cons

Long hours

Don't Work here

Managment not listening. To many time staff get hurt but managment dont care even if you spend all night at E&A you expected to be at work the next day. All management things off is money making. Staff are nice. You have three meals a day which is nice and definitely no progression although they will promise you everything on the interview. The compony is good with trainings.

Pros

Three meals a day

Cons

Eveything

Don't work here!!

Management are the worst to get anything from even just information!! The rate of pay is terrible because of the flare rate. No one listens to you about anything and it plays on your mental health let alone the rest of your health making you feel like your not worthy of an opinion. It really does something the the human physiology when your made to feel like your not listen too. When you get hurt nothing gets done and you can't even have to day off after to recover because trust me you won't be able to afford a day off. I'm afraid there is just too much wrong with the place to list them all!!

Pros

You get fed ... Most of the time!!

Cons

Everything you could imagine and more!!

Profits before safety

It is a crying shame what has become of this care home in Darlington. Low staff moral, low wages, poor management that put profit before safety, high turnover of staff, ran on agency, unsafe staffing numbers on shift,a clique place to work. Support workers are brilliant but are taken for granted by management ,it really is a sinking ship and the service users are suffering as a consequence.

Pros

Free lunches

Cons

Low wages and poor management, unsafe staffing levels.

Inconsistent

Every day would differ to the last, the care you gave and how you gave it depended fully on who was leading the shift. Other than that it was a fantastic place, however it was an underpaying job to say the least.

Pros

Free lunch, Training

Cons

Long shifts, Inconsistent, Irritable

Comitted to quality care

A great place to work & learn. Some settings are more challenging than others as is the norm within Health & Social Care. Company is committed to seeing teams develop and gives regular praise and recognition. Senior management is receiptive to change and adapts when appropriate. Some work to be done on culture, however things continue to improve since the new CeO started in 2016.

Pros

Pro-active colleague who care and are willing to learn

Cons

Staff who resist personal growth & development

Bullying culture poor senior management team.

The management are only interested in financial gain and cut costs and admit inappropriate service users. The induction and training is poor and there is a blame culture when things go wrong. The Operational Directors create clicks and treat some staff differently.

Pros

Free meals

Cons

Poor leadership and management.

Senior management are shambolic

High turnover of staff, staff are not listened to by management. Poor Rota, Can end up working 5 12 hr shifts, staying late to complete paper work for most and them called on days off to cover. Support staff are amazing. Over worked. Underpaid and under respected. Staffing numbers can make some activities difficult to carry out and as such the residents they shout the loudest or hit the hardest get what they want first whilst others 'Can wait till tomorrow'. Staff get assaulted on a regular basis and management blame staff for this, despite management changing care plans and techniques for the management challenging behaviour regularly. Client group is mismatched and as such causes clients to be unsettled. Has the potential to be a wonderful place, however money, low staffing and management deskill residents and prevent any chance of rehabilitation to the community setting.

Pros

Support staff are wonderful

Cons

Management, no breaks, poor staffing level

Uncaring company to work for.

I can't stress enough what an uncaring company this is. It doesn't care about the service users or the staff members, despite what they make it out to be. They are unsupportive and run on dangerous levels of staff in a highly volatile environment. Should staff have problems etc the management and hr will all stick together and bully.

Pros

Provision of meals (poor quality)

Cons

An overall uncaring and unsupportive company. Poor pay rates in comparison to other companys.
