Staff are great but unfair workload

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Staff are friendly and great to work with but poor pay for want you do with unfair work balance in branch. They expect too much work from one person.

An underpaid nightmare

This role doesn't pay nearly enough to justify the tediousness of having to deal with the terrible senior managers in Belfast and Derry. These people think they are above their workers simply because they have connections in the bank. They also feel it is their mission to pay a pittance, despite being one of the richest organisations on the planet, and will string you along for weeks before resolving any HR or contractual issues, if they are resolved in the first place.Avoid like the plague.

Pros

Nice office

Cons

Bad management, terrible salary, have to speak to customers

Mentally Challenging

Highly pressurised role. Training was absolutely awful like being in a boot camp. Team coach had very poor interpersonal skills. Felt like you were working in a school environment. You start taking calls from personal customers. You progress along a pathway training in different areas, business, overdrafts, personal loans etc. Constant pressure to reach KPI targets. Relentless amounts of information to take on board. Management team very supportive.

Pros

Excellent benefits

Cons

Too much pressure to perform

Excellent place to work

A really great company who values employees. The whole ethos in the bank is about colleagues and customers and this was evident from working there. Always there to provide support if needed. The senior management team in customer direct lead by example and if things get difficult they are normally the first to acknowledge the hard work. Coaches regularly go on the lines if things get busy something that doesn't happen everywhere. I really enjoyed my time in the bank and would highly recommend Danske Bank to anyone considering a career

Pros

Fair pay and fair working hours. A good pension and friendly management

Cons

Nothing

Great place to work

Great place to work, well organised, Management extremely helpful al all levels. The team I was placed in worked very efficiently and more important together. They had set goals that were achievable. I never heard a negative comment from any staff about the work or place.

Pros

Flexible

Cons

Contract placement.

The absolute worst

Management was awful and could at times be borderline nasty the whole atmosphere on the floor with the other trainees was dire. Witnessed and experienced intelligence being questioned by people higher up.

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Everything

Targets targets targets.

£14,000 for a branch customer service advisor. You will be expected to get 3 mortgage leads per day, which means asking the same everyday customer repetitively. Terrible experience.

Pros

Absolutely none.

Cons

Everything.

Recommend

Very friendly staff/management team. Customer focused, great training. Not overly stressful, but as with most jobs when busy there is a little more pressure.

Please don't apply for this job

The job itself is straightforward and the salary good. I have no issues with those. However, the trainer is an absolute bully. The managers were afraid of her and turned a blind eye to the fact she would zone in on 2 people in every group and try and totally break them because she got a kick out of it. Highly manipulative. Avoid like the plague. Ps she trains everywhere!

Pros

Good salary

Cons

Fancy a nervous breakdown?

Bad management

Not nice staff and manger. Not nice to other staff in same building. All day job can be awful. Big bank in Dunmurry. Job is ok and not so bad. Have free food.

Pros

Travelling by car

Cons

Paid ok and holiday paid.

Progression is there to be ceased

An employee can progress well within the Bank. The role would start at a basic level of answering customer queries but it can then progress rapidly to learning more complex banking queries and interesting banking roles.

Good working envirpnment

Friendly staff and management with opportunities for advancement. Competitive but relaxed atmosphere with collaborative team work and a good work life balance.

grim place to work, no appreciation from management, customers are grand.

Grim busy work environment, not recommended as a career. Bare bones of an organisation, everything is very lean, management don't listen and hold grudges against people who challenge them.

Pros

none

Cons

stressful

Friendly Work Environment

The work wasn't difficult. It was a customer facing role and you get used to handling cash and being discreet with customers. The main thing in any working environment is friendliness. That can make or break a job. I didn't appreciate the environment when I was there because it was so good.

great company that is working on being the best in NI. Proud to work here and of the achievements in the local market to date. Culture is big on change and doing more for the customer.

Salary

Salary was poor for the work completed by staff, although the job was interesting and staff you worked alongside were good people. Management did not care about your progression

Varied job roles

You are able to progress if you want with encouragement from managers. It is a good environment to learn responsibility, cash management and particularly customer service.

Soul destroying

Honestly the worst place i have ever worked for, even though i spent little time there it greatly affected my mental health, useless management and nasty training bay leaders.

Cons

Everything tbh

n/a

It is a company that tries to develop its staff with courses and qualification opportunities with the IOB. They are heavily focused on digitisation which is exciting and should provide a greater possibility for flexible working.

Pros

Perks card
