Health Care Assistant (HCA) in NHS

Not for me
Manic work for little pay and barely any staff. You have 4 of you to manage 30 beds because even though nurses are expected to help answer buzzers they don’t. They also speak to you like dirt. Expected to hand out tea/coffee and lunch/dinner as if there wasn’t too much to do already. Cliquey cultures with long term bank staff who bully new people. Never again.

Not the worst
When benchmarking against the rest of the NHS, it is not a bad trust by any means. Less aggressive and hostile than many other trusts. Some departments are working exceptionally well and pay is comparable to the rest of the health service.

Could be better
I wouldn't recommend this as a positive work environment which can only be described as toxic. The HR team including senior members of management are unprofessional. There is too much work and not enough team members. Turnover is extremely high, possibly due to the above reasons with a culture of unfairness dependent on who you are willing to suck up too.

A fantastic opportunity if you want to work with supportive colleagues and you can go as far as your learning capabilities enable
One of the most friendly but challenging Career’s of my life. If you have a desire to learn then this is for you. They give you opportunities and space to grow both on a professional and personal levelHowever don’t expect a top rated London salary but everything else is 5 star
