Okay job but requires a lot of motivation

Indeed featured review

Pretty poor pay for what can be a hellish job. Nice if you’re wanting to get fit and have some fresh air though. Few incentives to work on days where weather is grim.

Pros

Flexible

Cons

Poor pay

Ultimate example of low paid gig economy “job”

Really poor fees. Too many riders competing against another, distances twice as long for min fees. Many hours without orders thus resulting in amounting to less than half of min hourly wage. On top of that, having to provide your own bike/ebike. Wear and tear of expensive equipment, no holiday pay or taxes and no income security whatsoever! They get you hooked at being so called working for your own and choosing your own hours. The reality is far from it. There is only few hours where demand is high that is Friday nights between 7-9 and again Saturday and and hour or two during lunch time. Thus having no social life.

They hire too many riders and sometimes you have to wait 10-15 minutes to receive an order.

They lowered the fees so much that I receive a three miles order for around £3.50. Also they hired too many riders and you can wait 15-20 minutes or sometimes more to receive an order. To make around £50-60 per day...sometimes you have to put in 8-9 hours. This is now in may 2022, winter months are better.

Delivering food sound like a lot of fun.

Paying the bills when you make £4 deliveries, not so fun… you have to wait sometimes 10-15 mins for the food to be ready, other times is waiting for you ready, I even waited 1 hour on a Friday and Saturday evening, pay forFuel, pay for car repairs, new tyres twice a year, pay for insurance, which is not cheap as it’s a special Food delivery insurance, around £1500 per year, on top of your normal car insurance, sounds like great fun, right?

Pros

None, maybe some mercy from restaurants.

Pay is not good

The pay gets reduced every year and with the current cost of living, the pay is the worst at around £3 per delivery. The staff do not care about their drivers AT ALL no matter what you read in the media.

Fun and flexible but unreliable

Pay is per delivery and fee for delivery goes down as the cost of living is going up. Payment isn't guaranteed and I can spend hours waiting for a single order.

Great job for a student

Really easy to do and flexible, however, it can be inconsistent so you cant plan how much you will earn.Would recommend it to any student thought, as the ability to go off/ online whenever you want and chose your shifts is amazing.

Unpredictable work

Some days you will get lots of orders and make £13+ a hour and some days ive got 3 hours without a order. Very flexible job so good for students like myself

Pros

flexible

Cons

inconsistent orders

Trying too hard to be young and hype. No career prospectives

Worse place i've ever worked at. Not all bad of course but management has NO idea what they're doing. Churn rate of employees is super high which leads to very unhappy customers and disjointed teams. No longevity in the role whatsoever.

Pros

Flexi hours

Cons

Management, strategy, laughable lunch allowance (small credit once a month!)

Decent job

Really enjoy the flexibility of when I can work. Sign in or out whenever I feel like it. Most of the time I earn above minimum wage. Sometimes almost double. No boss and very little pressure. Only downside for me is that the delivery fees aren't increasing with inflation so eventually will be earning very little and there's no job security.

Pros

Flexibility. No bosses. Easy.

Cons

Job security.

Lone working

Lone working, extra money but can be very long days to earn that extra buck. Increase in fuel and traffic and reduced my earnings. More delivery drivers have been onboarded making it extra competitive.

Pros

Lone working

Cons

Lone working

Hard to earn decent money

Hard to earn decent money, some times of the day there are just not orders. Even when it’s hard to make any more than 9£ an hour. Especially hard when using bicycle.

Great for part time.

Great If you want to do something part time but don't break rules as they will penalise you and you can't argue your case.. you deal with emails that often don't even get a reply from them they mess around with pay a lot too.

Rubbish

Fed up with this job! Riding around in the freezing cold for £10 it's not really worth it this job, great for like a side job but an actual job Nah!

Pros

Work whenever you want

Cons

Low pay

Good for flexibility

Can work whenever you want and in your own pace. There are times when you don’t get any deliveries so I suggest to get the job as a paer time for weekends when there is full of orders

Really poor on orders.

Earned £13 in 3 days. Too many couriers in one area. 18 hrs standing in cold and rain for £13. An absolute joke and something must be done about it. Couriers in cars leaving in droves because orders are low paid if you ever get one.

Don't work here unless you like being exploited

practically working for free sometimes, orders used to be £4.25 an order, now you can get £2.70 for the same distance. No advancement, the cost to do the job makes it not worth it to do anymore, especially after tax.

Convenient as ur self employed

U could start working at anytime you like, and stop whenever, there are busy hours and calm ones but busy hours are mostly in the weekends that’s where ub get paid more
