Dermalogica
Skin Therapist (Former Employee) - Liverpool, Merseyside - 14 November 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedLovely products and work is varied due to performing treatments etc so you will not get bored. Give lots of training and there is always something new. Sometimes can be required to work in other stores from time to time which can be quite far away

Very retail based
Retail skin therapist (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 23 October 2023
Depending on your location, you sell more products than you do treatments. And there’s a lack of recognition when doing well. Training is good and in depth

There’s life after
Manager (Former Employee) - Leatherhead, Surrey - 9 October 2023
I worked at Dermalogica from the earlier days before the Management changes and it was a great company to work for. Friendly, dynamic, professional where the staff were treated with respect and in return, the staff were loyal and passionate about the brand. Lots of restructuring later and it lost its soul and passion. More target driven, setting depts against each other and the good managers and staff leaving in droves. Senior management have no respect for their staff nor respect the staffs family time and commitments. The positives: the beautiful location, parking, product allocations and your work colleagues.

Constant restructures and micromanaging
Business Development Manager (Former Employee) - United Kingdom - 11 July 2023
Constant restructures means that every 2 years your role will be up for redundancy. Targets are made impossible to achieve and it felt as if I was working harder with no results. Very stressful role and I had been left without a manager for months on end. Higher management can be rude also.

Nice company
Retail Counter Manager (Former Employee) - Royal Tunbridge Wells - 26 January 2023
Lovely company to work for however if you don’t stay a 1 year they will take “training cost” from you, amount is depending on how long you work for them, but I literally did three weeks online training at home on my own laptop.. so I don’t believe they can justify this. But otherwise lovely company to work for.
Pros
Get to wear white trainers definitely a plus
Cons
Take training cost from your last pay if you leave

Restructure damaged the company
Business Development Manager (Current Employee) - United Kingdom - 22 June 2022
i used to be proud to work for Dermalogica but since the restructure in 2019 things have gone downhill. The sales manager has left but I don’t know if it’s too late to repair the damage. Lots of amazing staff members left. No clear structure from management, last minute offers make us look desperate. Around £7k underpaid compared to the rest of the industry and this year commissions have been impossible to hit. Very unsettled environment at the moment
Pros
Free products, education
Cons
No car allowance, low wage, unsettled

Nice place to work for
Marketing (Former Employee) - United Kingdom - 4 January 2022
Lots of challenges, learnt how to manage volume, management sometimes withholds information crucial to the end goals of set tasks. Every month is different.

Its ok
Skin Therapist (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 19 May 2021
It's all about sells If you don't achieve the high kpi each month you don't get your commission 2 weeks of training to basically selling products, no treatments until you go on more training to then do treatments. Imagine being qualified in your profession to keep on doing more training on products that you could of done in the first two weeks of training. For me it was a waste of time and I am sure for others it's great fun. Depending on you store location the salary will differ.
Pros
Discount on products
Cons
High kpi montly

Stressful environment with rude management
Training Specialist (Former Employee) - Leatherhead - 14 December 2020
Management have favourites and if you aren’t someone they like they will make your life very hard. This company reminds me of a cult, there isn’t much diversity and staff turnover is incredibly high. If you want to be stressed all the time both at home and at work then apply. They had very unrealistic expectations and put too much pressure on your shoulders. I would never recommend or go back to this company.
Pros
A lot of freebies
Cons
Terrible management, stressful, poor pay, favouritism, lack of diversity, a lot of fake people

Your just another number
Skin Therapist (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 3 December 2020
They can replace you as quick as they employ you- extremly bullying nature from micro management. The Targets they set are ridiculously unachievable and the Commission structure is horrendous for the hours you work, If you ever want to have a social life or have a family this isnt the job for.
Pros
Monthly allocation
Cons
Not appreciated one bit.

Was left vulnerable after a mistake
Retail Assistant (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 15 November 2020
I was only working on the shop floor for only 4 months and the rest of 4 months I spent on lockdown ' working' from home. The Company was so proud of not making anyone redundant in this difficult time of covid19. I was made redundant only because I didn't log in to online chats once even tho I did but there was no proof that I was. I wasn't even given a disciplinary as it should of happened but instead I was ' let go'. I was on a probobation period for 8 months only because the training centre was closed and they couldn't do anything about it. Meanwhile in other locations the people who started at the same time as me passed their probobation period only because of training centre contacts which wasn't fair. The management was cold, way too many managers and high up positions. I felt that I was constantly watched, not appreciated when I did hit targets. My gift for selling the most of the latest product was out of date and used Dermalogica products by my manager. Lovely isn't it? Another thing I noticed was that all of the women that work for this company are either British/ Irish ( white) and nearly no other nationalities. Makes you wonder really... The bonus money is so little and not worth the effort. This company definitely only cares about money and sales nothing else really. The pay for what you work for is not worth it either. Constant learning and unrealistic targets. The amount of stress I went through before I got made redundant was ridiculous. At the end of the day the products were good but it is just a skin care brand. They make the company bigger than it actually -
Pros
Free products
Cons
poor management, not worth the money

Amazing products
Training Specialist (Former Employee) - Glasgow City Centre, Glasgow - 28 October 2020
Lovely products. Awful company to work for. Bullying is rife and management do nothing to support staff and actively side with bullies. HR are less than useless and they expect you to have little to no private life due to the work load.
Pros
Great product allocation
Cons
Staff allowed to bully others and management turn a blind eye

Good, if your fresh out of college
Beauty Therapist (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 7 October 2020
Dermalogica is good if you’re 20 and live at home with no bills to pay. Low pay with high expectations. Head office seem to think they are above the therapist and talk down to you. High targets to reach with low commission. The turn over is high because of this. If you’re young and need experience go for it.. otherwise wait for something better to come along. If you leave before probation, they make you pay the training cost back. I paid it anyway. I was that desperate to get out!
Pros
Free skin care
Cons
Low pay. Head office.
