We operate in a truly unique sector; the funeral profession remains one of the few timeless pillars in communities. Whilst working in the funeral industry can occasionally be challenging, you will always be there for people, supporting them through their most difficult times. We trust our colleagues to make the right decisions for our businesses and give them the freedom to innovate and find new ways of doing things to push our sector forward. To empower our colleagues we created a framework, Our Guiding Principles, which supports them in achieving the best outcomes for our families, suppliers, partners, local communities, and colleagues. We offer a range of roles across our branches, crematoria as well as within our central support services.

Our Purpose

Our core purpose is to help people say goodbye, remember their loved ones and celebrate the life of those lost. We help people to plan for their own funerals so that their wants and wishes are clearly expressed, with peace of mind that money has been set aside to help cover the cost. Dignity’s vision is to be the most trusted, respected, and valued end-of-life provider in the UK and the most inspirational and rewarding employer for those that serve this goal

What We Do

We are the only end of life provider in the UK that is uniquely positioned to deliver all elements of a funeral service. We offer a range of trusted Funeral Plans that give our customers peace of mind, allowing them to arrange and pay for their funeral in advance. From our national network of nearly 800 funeral directors, we help families to arrange funerals when someone has passed away and care for their loved one with respect and compassion. We operate 46 crematoria and 24 cemeteries across the UK, providing a place of peace and tranquillity for mourners to remember and say goodbye to loved ones. These sites proudly serve a broad range of local funeral directors, not just those from within the Dignity Group.

Our Guiding Principles

Career Development

Our Talent Development team works with our people around the business to increase the knowledge and skills needed to deliver their roles and develop their careers. We deliver modules on subjects such as how to carry out funeral-related tasks, develop management skills or how to use a new computer system. Engaging and effective, we are also investing in our people with a wide range of fun, bite-sized topics that allow you to also guide your own professional development. These range from our Diversity and Inclusion training and Mental Health Awareness through to How To Cook In Spanish! LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Our new digital learning platform encompasses eLearning, videos, digital documents, presentations and virtual sessions. To help us deliver these materials we have a learning management system, the Dignity Academy portal. This software allows our people to access learning materials wherever they are in the country. They can access it at work, at home, or even sat on the train with a tablet. We can use data such as usage statistics and assessment results, along with business data to understand how effective the learning has been. BLENDED LEARNING OPTIONS The introduction of a blended learning approach has allowed us to tailor to the individual learning needs of our colleagues. It means that key skills are built using different methodologies and cater to different learning preferences, this helps to increase learner efficiency and confidence. APPRENTICESHIPS From HR Administration, all the way to MBA level qualifications, our Talent Development team cater for professional development opportunities at all levels in our organisation.
