Not a good place to work
Pastry Cook (Former Employee) - New York, NY - 15 March 2020
If you wanna work for this company, there are several reasons why you should reconsider your thoughts. This place is bad to work for many reasons: - First of all this place has a really bad management because managers don’t have any experience in food service so they don’t think or see things as a cook, they just criticize everything instead of proposing good solutions for the problems they have. On the other hand, back of house managers don’t have any experience in managing people so they just walk around trying to demonstrate the authority they don’t have. - No benefits for the employees in general, you just work hard and they don’t even recognize it. - Schedule made weekly and they suddenly change it with the excuse of “we are short of staff” so you must adapt yourself to whatever they say and the times they ask you to be in there. Also work hours are crazy and you do a lot of stuff and hard work for a minimum wage and you have no chance to get a little bit more money because they don’t even give you any chance to do overtime in there, if you do, they change your times in the system so they don’t have to pay a lot of overtime. - A lot of inconsistencies in all the processes to make the final product, the owner is always changing his mind and there is not a standard to make anything, that’s why everybody has a different way of making things work. As a consequence of that the Poor training programs. No one is trained properly, then the owner is complaining about the waste but it is because he just makes sure that one person knows his way of making everything instead -
