Repetitive , stressful, depressing

Awful company to work for, management constantly condraticting themselves, no communication, brown nose culture.Constantly timed on every aspect of your day,Only get 15 mins of comfort break a day, if you go over by a fraction you will be called out on it via a blanket email to everybody in your dept.If you don’t hit target you will be micro managed and made to feel inferior.Working throughout lockdown was an absolute nightmare. We were threatened with our jobs repeatedly, after trying our best to please their difficult, obnoxious, toxic customers.I bought it up to my manager and was told to find a new job if I didn’t like it.They talk about mental health but very little is actually done.More and more pressure is piled on you with very little back in return. In short, I wouldn’t recommend working for this company, they take without giving much back.On the plus side, we did get occasional gifts sent to us.

Pros

Brownies they sent us

Cons

Everything else

Very stressful environment to work in

It was a very hectic working environment it was virtually impossible to earn any money you had to work an extensive amount of hours, the employment is on a franchise basis so you have to work many hours to pay for your vehicle before you actually earn anything, upwards of 12 hours a day

Cons

Very long hours, not always guaranteed work, low pay

Linehaul driver

Not the best wages, filthy tractor units, trailers that have been battered about, runs getting taken off you and given to agency drivers so you loose around £300 +a week transport office staff who are bone idol to say the least and just generally a rubbish place to work.

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Getting dropped at last minute with no excuse🤬

Not a true tramping job

Expected to to stay in the yard during the day with no facilities and can't stop when out to have a shower and rhe cabs are basic not even a fridge so no where to keep food and no where to wash if you treat an animal like this there would be an uproar

Avoid

Been working as driver for eight months, all I can say is that I felt like in a ship without capitan!!Shift managers don’t have a clue what they are doing, all matters for them is to clear the depo. You will start your day around half ten to leave the depo at 2 pm!!! 3 1/2 hours not paid to finish around 9 pm!! And sometimes when you go back to depo( you must everyday) you get asked to do collection!! Absolutely a joke.they just don’t care about drivers they treat you like rubbish. If you do care about yourself just avoid.

Pros

When you leave the depo

Cons

If you find one let me know!!

Genuinely enjoyed my time there

I needed an extra income so signed up for night shift via an agency. As a first timer to this environment, it was both scary and stimulating! Yes, it is very hard work (I saw some people leave after a couple of hours), but if you’re prepared to graft, it gets easier. There are opportunities if you show the right stuff. I moved from agency to full time employment. There are opportunities for career progression and to work in different teams, but guess what, if you’re not bothered you’ll most likely not get asked. I found management good in every department I worked in. Good canteen and food. Often free food or ice cream in the Summer.I left as I was doing two jobs, but i’d go back at the drop of a hat (and was invited to do so) if I needed to. I have worked for almost 40 years and can honestly say that I miss the people I used to work with, agency, staff and management. They’re the best.

Can be hard work but fair pay if you drive responsibly

I've been at DPD for nearly a year and generally find it an easy job. I started on a route in an area that I didn't know which was nearly an hour from the depot and it was quite stressful but now I'm on a route close to the depot in an area I know well and it's been so much better. Decent pay and rewards but you have to be careful not to ding your van or damage your tyres or get a parking fine as you'll have to pay for that. People in the depot are good, some drivers miserable and rude but most ok.

Pros

Good hours, fair pay so long as you don't incur any fines or damage to vehicle

Cons

Risks involved .... Eg pay for any damage to van, tyres, parking fines, people claiming non receipt of parcels

Hub 3 Oldbury

No job security at all, I had to stop in a service being solo and trying to call to get a permission to stop and off course nobody answered, I had to go at toilet and I was suspended 1 month and after that they sacked me for this, if you looking for a good job avoid DPD,I understand they sacked drivers for any stupid reasons, one of the manager's it was a stobart driver before and planner's are the worst like their filthy stinky truck's.

Pros

Money, uniform

Cons

Long hours, bad attitude from planner's and manager's1.000.0000 km truck's.

Dpd wearhouse

DONT DO IT!!!!!!!! very poorly paid expected to work like animals u was told by a manager I'm not paid to think and we should leave the thinking to the management. By the way I am an ex manager of 13 years experience in retail who decided to try a new career. They make you feel guilty if you don't stay to do overtime and treat all staff like they are a number they have no respect for anyone. I am truly embarrassed to say I work for them and would tell anyone trying to get a job there trust me you don't want to. I have seen fights on the wearhouse floor and only one person was disciplined the others who were management git away with it stressful degrading and very bad for mental health

Pros

Zero

Cons

Empty coffee machines that arnt even free, poor canteen with dirty fridge, and over crowded staff facilities.

Management are dogs

The management are dogs getting drivers put off the road by someone with no mot credentials, all about the brand. Tell drivers to use different postcodes further away from their area if on the sliding scale contracts to bump up their miles then sit back and say nothing when drivers are getting sacked right left and centre this was at their tannochside depot!!

Pros

Decent pay but well worked for it!!

Cons

Management needs redding out

Long hours for less than minimum wage

Do not work for a service provider! You will be expected to come in either at 5am or 7am.You have to sort your parcels out and load up your van. you will probably get about 110 drops, ( you'll get more parcels than this as you may have more than 1 parcel for certain drops). You get paid £1 per drop but if you bring any back you don't get paid for that, (that can easily be 10 per day). Obviously you don't get paid when you are loading up, it can take up to 3 hours sometimes as the management are bad and the parcels may come off late. You will be constantly stressed as you have to deliver each parcel by a certain time., each drop has a green bar going slowly to red. you may have to break off to do a timed delivery which could be 20-30mins from the drop you're on. obviously you can road works and traffic which can result in you driving around like a madman as this will be the only way you will finish the shift. You can get pick ups placed on you from business which you have to pick up towards the end of your delivery, which could mean scanning in over 100 parcels for £1 and you also have to make sure these parcels are dropped off at the depot at the end of the shift which can easily add another unpaid hour onto your shift. You will only have a week to week rota so don't plan anything as you will not know what days you will be doing from week to week and when you first start you will more than likely be just working weekends as nobody wants to do them. Also if you prang your van you will be charged, very easily done as you are rushing around in a LWB and sometimes in the tiniest -

Pros

None

Cons

Long hours, working out less than minimum wage, Self employed so no holidays, sick. Have to sort your own tax out.

Slow days/busy days/fun/disappointing

I love working for DPD for specific managers.I have had a problem with a couple of agency staff which one caused my injury to pull out, other than that the staff are awesome to work with and if I ever needed anything they helped. My family and friends love and prefer DPD as they are reliable and they deal with any problems that occurs. The drivers are friendly some have a terrible attitude swearing and blaming night shifts for the dayshifts messing up, and disrespectful to parcels. Dayshifts don’t care about leaving the warehouse in a state leaving pallets all over, empty food packets even though by law it is forbidden to eat out of the canteen especially in industrials. Some staff will leave and not help out when your shift ends so you need to keep your head down and work hard dpd will keep you on until they employ you only if you make the effort.

Pros

Good laugh, friendly and caring staff, busy most days especially the holidays.

Cons

None

Fun when things go well

Great for a stop gap Job money's ok if you get a tidy route it's self employed long hours and when things go wrong the go wrong management was great no issues at all but if you think this is just a cushy driving job think again it's brutal

Pros

Money

Cons

Long hours fast paced
