Deceitful management

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
I’ve been working in Leeds depot couple of months as an admin. It was really good in the beginning- work conditions were fine, salary as well, i’ve been even rewarded with an ‚amazing award’. Unexpectably once i supposed to get Perm contract, dc manager started messing around. Probation has been extended 2-3 times for 2-3 weeks and dc manager was constantly late for my reviews, and when i asked for more details about Alleged mistakes or improvement plan i never received an answer. After around 2 months of this strange situation my contract had been terminated. Very harmful and disrespectful

Decent people, bad management

Great bunch if lads jn warehouse, management none existent, lots of waiting for parcels when tricks are late or don't turn up, they seem to let anyone be a service provider if they have enough money even if they havnt a clue what they are doing

Hard work not enough pay

It's a fiscal hard job humping heavy parcels .not much training saying all that I do like it seems to suit me 😃but it won't be for everyone.the pay is definitely not enough.

No care for the drivers nothing but pressure

Absolute dog poo place to workWill have you out knocking on doors till 11pm..... cz every parcel has to be serviced regardless how bad the run is.... van breakdown soon as you get to first job? When ya back up and running even if you've just waiting 6 hour to be rescued and fixed? U will have to service every parcel on your van still or receive driver points... joke of a place

DPD not truthful and honest

You’ll start to find cracks within the company and finding out you need to do extra work without being mentioned at interview stage, management only care about the numbers and not you as the driver, monthly missing payments on the regular basis

Pros

Not much

Cons

Heavy lifting over 25k, Business collection in bulk packages, 12 hr + shift patterns

Modern day slavery

Dpd is very bad to work, management does not care about the drivers they pay you five pence per parcel on collection from businesses which can weigh from 1 kg to 30 kg and the waiting time back at the depot can vary from an hour to a hour an half. The job that can be done in 5 /6 hours is done in up to 12 hours work as their system does not allow you to deliver parcel in same street or place and you end up coming 3 to 4 times in the same area and most of the days you are working below the minimum wage. Their routes are just ridiculous going back wards and forward

Pros

None

Cons

Long hours Below average pay No respect Heavy lifting

Fun workplace

Nice and fun place to work at. Job can be challenging sometimes but that should be expected in any warehouse. Staff work together as a team, and management excellent.

Pros

Good working environment

Cons

Sometimes long hours

Prison would be easiest

I worked as night trunk C&E.Work life balance, forget it.Holidays when you want, again forget that too.Culture of disciplines and dismissal's, ask at interview how many drivers are currently suspended, tells you all you need to know.Set routes, with very little notice this can change, so your income can plummet or rise, usually plummeted.

Pros

its a job

Cons

Work into Christmas day, and out of New years day.

Cons

Abysmal planners Abysmal managers

The linehaul side of Dpd is 100pc run by planning Dept who don’t have a clue, truly awful regularly send 2 or 3 wagons for 1 load because they are graduates out of university that now nothing unless their computer tells em. Managers are arrogant in linehaul and can’t be bothered .. place is 50/ 50 Dpd/ agency . Your hours are cut at a 2 min brief in hub .so if they tell you your recruited on a 12 hour shift beware ..They are now so desperate they take drivers back who have left and give them the longest runs ..what a joke .. No loyalty whatsoever they can change it just like that to 8 hours .. you have been warned

Pros

Life assurance . You will need it

Cons

All of it

Good Pay, Poor Job

As a warehouse operative, my role could be anything from loading/unloading trailers to sorting out routes for drivers. The job itself is hard work and very fast paced, the unsociable hours can also take its toll, but it's typical of the industry and isn't a fault of DPD. Shift Managers and Supervisors are usually great to get along with, but any management above them are an absolute joke. They're the first to point the finger if something goes wrong like a belt failure or any other form of delay, but won't get their hands dirty to help out either. They instead sit on their backsides thinking of how much more they can make cuts to the budget. Organisation is very poor. Management also promise promotion and progression, but it's simply just to dangle the carrot to stay quiet and carry on working. The pay is also very good for the industry, it's about the only good thing going for DPD, and the only good pointer anybody I have worked with has said. I met some great people whilst working here, but senior management need to pull their finger out.

Pros

Decent Pay

Cons

Senior Management, Budget Cuts
