Pointless routes, zero support, no accountability, favoritism single driver pushed to the bottom of the pile, no one responds to calls constantly fobbed off....... the list is long

Insights into DPD
Areas for improvement
- Sense of belonging
- Support from manager
- Time and location flexibility
need new and younger managers
Driver (Former Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 6 June 2023
old managers old mindsets that is what I think and there needs to be more efficiency at depot with someone loading the van before drivers gets there which would show team work makes the dream work.

Avoid
7.5 tonne driver (Current Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 5 May 2023
You will be fully responsible for sorting scanning palletising & loading all parcels for your route. 150-200 parcels & 40-50 stops will be the norm. You won’t get any help. You will also be responsible for off loading all collections on your return to depot. Again with no help, Handballed onto a conveyor belt. Min shift around 10.5 hours. Very physical job. Very little time spent driving, around 30 miles per day. Management will not give any support but very quick to criticise & apply pressure to do more. You’ll be a parcel sorter & warehouse Op just as much as a driver. You have been warned.

Hard work
Driver (Former Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 9 February 2023
Stay away just do that trust me . They expect way too much of you and you get paid per delivery. Missing a delivery just means you won’t get paid so what’s the point

Poor and lazy management
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 1 January 2023
Every thing is good apart from pay and management. Management is there to pick your mistakes and blame you for everything possible they are not there to help everyday is new rules. They want drivers to work like robots

A very fast paced work environment.
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) - Leicester - 30 June 2022
A very fast paced work environment. Not bad for me because I have the strength and knowledge around jobs like this, however I won’t recommend the job for anyone who is not strong enough, easily gets emotional and has health conditions.

Heavy lifting, working hours diferent.
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Leicester - 10 June 2022
Heavy lifting, working hours diferent every day, hourly pay not match minimum pay per hour, problem solving on your own and if you lose parcel you pay for it.

Fun
Parcel Sorter (Former Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 29 May 2022
Great place to work, solid pay and staff. Sometimes give away free food if the week has gone well. Clean facilities that are easy to navigate and even if you are confused everyone is happy to help you out.

Long hours
Multi Drop Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Leicester - 23 May 2022
Long hours.. Management don't care. Horrible place to work. Devices don't work in the rain. All management care about is the parcels. The voice of the drivers is never heard.

Jobs at DPD
in LeicesterNot bad but needs improvement
Multi Drop Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 29 April 2022
Not bad but needs improvements. Micromanaging at dpd is the norm. Also managers confused and don’t seem to know what’s going on. The is no progression but overall can put head down.

Stressful and disorganised
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Leicester - 26 April 2022
I would rather not comment as the company is extremely disorganised. Management is completely detached from workers. In general I wouldn't recommend to join dpd.

Okay if your face fits
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Leicester - 26 January 2022
Little to no work for us, No logic to working there, unnecessary mind numbing jobs! Made to feel unimportant by Management in hub 5!
Pros
Shift hours when we got them, Facilities reasonable, Hub 4 was nice to work at, Staff friendly
Cons
Unnecessary observation from management, Inappropriate expectations of jobs we weren't trained for, Hard work was not acknowledged, Made to feel like a number not a name, Turned away without notice on arrival on several occasions due to miscommunication

Good pay
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Leicester - 17 January 2022
Good pay....more you work, more you earn Some days long hours, but overal decent being on road if you enjoy it Loading early morning in cold sometimes an issue, but nothing to bother too much about...once on road, a place to enjoy alone and get work done

Work life balance not good, place is chaotic
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 16 June 2020
Monday to Friday your parcels are supposed to be in a certain place, most of them are but then you have to run around trying to find the rest as it will be mixed in with someone elses route, or in a place it shouldn't be. Saturday and Sunday its chaos your parcels are everywhere, you'll have one in the middle of the warehouse that you've been looking for for 3 hours.
I've spent 3 hours looking for parcels that management wont remove from my list and they expect you to keep within your time.
Their satnav is rubbish it will at least once or twice a shift minimum take you to the wrong street so make sure you have a smartphone,
Some managers talk to you like dirt but cant handle it when you speak the same way back to them. You start at 7am and can finish at 7pm, you get paid per parcel you deliver. They dont keep you on the same route so you never get to know your route
Pros
Some funny characters
Cons
Absolutely everything

Only paid for hours working. Not for getting to work or going through security. Also they are selective on who works, not first come. Also if you get
Parcel Sorter (Former Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 1 June 2020
There for 4pm starting at 5, you might not get in but have to wait for next shift which is not paid for. My advice, avoid like it's the Corona Virus! Slave labour and unfair pay.

Self Employed -- Not in the slightest
ODF (Former Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 23 January 2020
As an Odf you are treated as employed, you are told where you are working and when you are working, they take a day off you in the week and expect you to work weekends to make this up to cover the costs of the van lease before you earn anything. No set wage you never know what you will earn or how much work you will have, No paid holiday, You certainly are not your own boss. Stay well clear and dont fall for the blueprint and promises like I did. Too much pressure for what you earn which Isnt much more than an employed driver once everything is calculated and worked out.

Master's of double standard
Franchise Driver (Former Employee) - Leicester, Leicestershire - 7 January 2020
Disgusting ways in which members of management speak to drivers and the culture in which people of different colours are treated is appalling to say the least
