It was a great place to work many years ago, now they bend you over and put it in dry.

Don't bother it's city link waiting to happen. Targets are now unreasonable and should you fail a call your stood down the following day. It's all service providers now, the amount of brown envelopes changing hands between them and management must be incredible.

Constantly on the go

The turn over of staff @ DPD is unreal and now I know why. I started with 13 other people in 2019 and by 2020 there was only 4 of us left and by 2021 there was only 2 me and someone else. So how best to explain other than this, from the moment you log in on your Saturn device in the mornings you have 60 minutes to find, scan and number all your parcels then load them into your van in an order which you can understand for the day's shift ahead and if you don't you could be stood down the next day or have a warning and be told you need to hurry up as it's not acceptable (in other words no work for you the next day due to this failure) no joke...If you lease a vehicle from DPD it costs £2000 when you start your ODF upfront as a deposit just incase of damage to the vehicle, but it breaks down... well that another thing, your expected to pay more money out of your own pocket even though you already pay them well over £1000 a month already (btw that doesn't include the VAT or the fuel costs for the lease of the vehicle) your exspected to replace the vehicle as they don't provide replacement vehicles whilst your one is being repaired (which I found out after taking the lease out I wasn't told about this before hand) as it's your responsibility to make sure you can still cover your route the next or same day.The best part of the day is when your out of the depot and on the open road doing what you do best delivering parcels of all sorts of shapes and sizes and weights regardless of the state of the boxes or parcels.

Pros

Not many pros other than, being your own boss but then that doesn't always mean it's better so really no pros

Cons

Long hours, no family life, lease of a vehicle is a joke!

Less than minimum wage and long hours

Long hours Majority of time earning less than minimum wage Stressful Some areas dangerous to access with vehicle given Fast paced Been working in 30 degrees heat with no air con having to deliver high numbers of parcels Says pay is £8.72 an hour however only pays a base rate of £400 per week but working at least 50 hours a week making it less than minimum wage Targets are around 90parcels, they say they will pay around 75p extra a parcel but with amount of hours worked it only makes it up to national minimum wage anyway so a con

Pros

Left alone if targets met which can be difficult

Cons

A lot, money, time, management

You must have made an error in search, go elsewhere!

This gets the extra star only because you get to build good customer relationships! Which really helps with good customer service skills etc. Ok its SIMPLE! If you get a position here, Life is over! They are liars to your face and behind your back! They definitely need new management, They have absolutely no care about your health mentally and physically, I was there long enough to see it all, no sympathy for bereavement either, they are so heartless! How they even sleep at night is beyond after the way they treat you. You are just a name and number and dont be fooled by the salary, just times it by your hours, once upon a time the salary was good, infact great, but then over the years things such as 50p deductions after you achieving target means they just taking it all back, Not getting the right volume is also an issue as they split down your route and add or deduct what they want to when they want to. They will use you at peak and then 99% of the time you are out the door after peak, for the ODF position, this is NOT self employed as they control everything you do, what time you start, finish, where you go, how many parcels you take out and at worser measure control your road speed times. Also be careful to take on drivers of your own as this can be part of a training scam meaning they wont care to take that driver from you and keep them on for themselves. The best part of the job is OUT of the depo and meeting new people on the roads etc, problem is because your morning starts sooo BAD! You have to try wind down to make the day as good as can be. Evening shift managers -

Pros

Out delivering

Cons

Literally EVERYTHING

Fantastically poor company

Management all their interested in is saving their own necks, they couldn't give a hoot about the drivers, sorters or anyone they will be nice to your face whilst stabbing you in the back. You are a name and number and that's it. If you breathe wrongly you are up in a breech

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Everything

Stress and lies

We've all heard about the gig economy, jobs masquerading as 'self-employment' where you actually have few rights. The manager here promised me my own route for months, lied to my face on many occasions, promised a £30,000 salary but in effect I was paid around £6.50 an hour. The core part of the job is great - meeting customers, being on the road. Everything else is awful.

Pros

Meeting customers is great

Cons

Lies, stress, being messed around
