Pay not good enough for amount of work

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Awful routes and working long hours for not enough money. Mess with your route mid shift for collections out of the way. End up finishing route very late any not getting paid for time coming back and unloading

Disorganised and chaotic

Avoid working for this company at all cost, avoid working for the MRFs (Multi-route franchises) too. Rules suit them as and when they want and they'll just not pay you if you cross them.

Busy Busy Busy

Keeps you fit because it is non stop all day but if you like being out and about it’s great for that. Be prepared to get soaked when it rains and melt when it’s warm.

Sound

Easy job if you don't mind a bit of effort, has ups and downs like any job but I've had a lot of other jobs that have been a lot harder for a lot less money

Bad place to work

They treat people unfairly. They don’t care if you’re overloaded and your vehicle is overweight and make you risk your driving license. The management is poor.

Very bad

What is the best part of working at the company?Worse company to deliver for! It’s misleading you get payed minimum for stops and it’s not for the parcel. You can have 80 stops but 100’s of parcels and can be very heavy. You DONT have a choice you have to rent there vans which isn’t far off what you earn. You have to be on time via their device otherwise you fail. The warehouse is a joke everybodys arguing as parcels are no where to be found. And you’re not allowed to leave the depot to YOU have found them and stacked your van from bottom to top. If parcels are asked to be left in a safe place be warned if they report it not there regardless photos taken etc you still have to pay for missing parcels. If you are a franchise owner it’s not as bad but it’s still chaotic.DONT BY into you earn good money as your allocated how many stops you get you don’t chooseWhat is the most stressful part about working at the company? All of it. And Charging your electric vanWhat is the work environment and culture like at the company?Very bad 85% of the time puts you in a low moodWhat is a typical day like for you at the company?Depressing as you get shouted at if parcels are not there they make it your problem it’s your duty to arrange and sort all your parcels. you don’t get paid for this

No work life balance

Not a bad place to work. The people are good but and the actual job isn't so bad, but if you plan to have a life this ain't for you. If there's any chance you may finish early think again, management straight on the phone asking for "favours" constantly. The hours are simply too long and the money isn't great at all if you look into it properly.

Cons

Long hours, low pay

Don't bother

Terrible company to work for. Say they will guarantee work load but it's bull. They don't care if you can not make a living just please stay away much better companies out there.

Pros

None

Cons

Everything

Poorly treated

Have no consideration to home life. Threaten you with loss of income or poor routes if you don't work extra days or longer day at short notice. Days can be so long that it works out that you earn less than minimum wage

Pros

None

Cons

Long hours

Low wage decent job keeps you fit

100 a day for 9 hours worked had worse jobs least you stay fit and sort of like your own boss when your on the road but the collections and time critical deliveries are killers sometimes but the worst part of the job is finishing and having to line up with lorry’s and they get priority to the 5 bays then you queue around the other side to return the undelivered items can take like a extra hour on your day unpaid

Earnings potential but no private life if so.

Low pay rate , high expectations towards driving job role from management , blaming drivers for every single mistake , asking why You came in late then got to wait for parcels..

Pros

"Freedom" on the road

Cons

Long days comparing to wages..

Alright

Decent money, can be long hours. Depends on your route. Some people can clear 120 parcels and be done in 5 hours some can take 8 hours to do 90.Overall I enjoyed it.

Don’t do it

Don’t do it to yourself. Your give more and more work everyday. Constantly chasing people to get their parcels. People not in to receive parcels wires me up

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Long long hours

Pay was good for a while

So was a franchise driver, some of the managers at my particular depot started to hate on the amount I and my co worker earnt in such short days and did their best to make work life difficult. We were classed as self employed and was given a quota we had to meet for them, we always met and exceeded, then they want to take the route that you pretty much pay for off of you, so they can make more money off of less competent drivers and when sed drivers can't handle it, try to stick us with the left over work. Basically if you have a voice at my depot, they didn't like it, just wanted yes men. I loved the job until they started messing around with the way our day run.

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Managerial interference

Good group of people but system not ideal

Good group of people but the system is set up to have you working many hours that you're not paid for. You'll spend hours routing and sorting parcels before loading and eventually leaving the depot to start deliveries

Keep your wages

I worked hard and worked for dpd for at least a year and before I left they didn't pay my last month's wage, conniving and fraudulent company to work for.

Pros

Non

Cons

Long hours, low pay, thief's.

Horrible people who only care about themselves

They pay you less, the more you work. Its called a sliding scale, so the rate of pay slides down the more parcels you deliver. Plus they only pay you for a single delivery if you have many parcels for a multi occupancy building. Aggressive dictatorship management style who always looking for a reason to discipline you.

Pros

None

Cons

Too many

Appaling

I've worked for a few different parcel delivery companies and DPD is by far the worst one going. They treat you shockingly, I honestly recommend any other company over these. DPD Bradford depot is the worse I worked in, I've worked in 4 different DPD depots. The management there are appalling to say the least. For yours and your family's sanity, go work for a different company.
