AVOID this company
Driver (Former Employee) - Dunstable, Bedfordshire - 17 November 2023
The depot is unorganised, you can’t load your van in good time as the parcels could be anywhere and difficult to find. Long hours too , you have no idea to what time , you’ll be home? Probably looking at a 12hr + day. With a salary, that doesn’t reflect it. It’s winter now and so under no circumstances, lease an electric van as the range, will probably last you just a solitary day. That’s because you’ll be using the heater more as it’s colder& it eat’s into the electric massively. As for the money , well it’s below the minimum wage, once you’ve paid out for the van / fuel etc. Unless you’re going to break your back & work 7 days or deliver even more parcels, in what is an overloaded van. As for support from your so called superiors There’s no empathy, all they care about, is that you are delivering on time. The only time they’ll actually call you, is when you’re not It was obvious they just don’t care. AVOID-

Overworked
Driver (Current Employee) - Dagenham, Greater London - 13 November 2023
You get overworked. Most people at dpd have no work life balance and you literally see people’s health deteriorating. It’s kinda soul drainung. Good for part time not good for long term

Awful place to qork
Driver (Former Employee) - Cardiff, Cardiff - 19 October 2023
If you like being spoke to like garbage, then DPD is the perfect place to work. Management is lacking in job appropriate skills. Workload is too much which results in being burnt out. Money isnt as good as it seems

poor management of drivers and staff.
Driver (Former Employee) - Manchester - 4 October 2023
The job itself wasn't too bad but there was a lot of favouritism going on and certain people would cherry pick their routes. I wouldn't recommend this.

the job was a good job, the hours worked out good for me , doing 6 -8 hr shifts 120 a day over a 5 day week. full use of the van when off work, which was also a bonus.

Enjoyable work
Collection Driver (Former Employee) - Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire - 12 September 2023
Coming from being a self employed heating engineer this job was an absolute breeze. The only downside is unloading once or possibly twice a day. This will probably change at busy times

Jobs at DPD
Driver positionsTypical mutidrop job
Driver (Current Employee) - Bridgwater, Somerset - 4 September 2023
This job is not for everyone. If you have a delivery driver background then you may do well. It can be extremely stressful and they always want more from you.

Pointless routes, zero support, no accountability, favoritism single driver pushed to the bottom of the pile, no one responds to calls constantly fobbed off....... the list is long

Good money if you have a route other wise they will ask you to work somewhere else
Driver (Former Employee) - Croydon, Greater London - 23 August 2023
I worked with Dpd training is great. But work can be very stressful in the sense of you finish dropping parcels around 1 in the afternoon you will at least 1 delivery to deliver at 5-6 or 4-5. It called precise it mess up your day. Some of the shift managers are really good but some will make fun of you.

Tough but can be enjoyable
Driver (Former Employee) - Cardiff, Cardiff - 19 August 2023
Can be tough as you are timed so when you are running behind it can get stressful. However if your day is going well it can be enjoyable. I suppose the longer you are there the easier it will get I was only there a few months

Every morning we full of pressure and stressed they make changing with out consulting and forced on us wither we like it or not
Multi Drop Driver (Current Employee) - Luton - 2 August 2023
Every day is a different day with different challenges once we are out about delivering we meet all sorts of people some nasty but there are most good people we have to laugh and joke with and move on with the work we learned every society has problems. The managed ment has the task they only looking at their number to show how good a job they doing workplace culture is okay we just get on with it the hard part of the job is being very responsible b being alert and be safe carefully and looking out for things unexpected things the most enjoyable part of the job is meeting people all sort of background different culture of the world. having lough and talking about problems of the world and politics.
Pros
occasionally we are offered lunch breakfast.
Cons
yes long hours

Okay but not great
Driver (Former Employee) - Snetterton, Norfolk - 5 July 2023
Not great to work for as you are self employed they just one day tell you they don’t need you anymore then you have to find something quickly. Not good when you have bills to pay.

Just a Number
Driver (Former Employee) - Motherwell, North Lanarkshire - 24 June 2023
Shift managers are clueless , expect drivers to do so much more than standard just to improve themselves to the bigger bosses .. shifters haven’t even driven a van and driving regulations are out the window
