A small Chaos
HGV Class 2 Multidrop Driver (Current Employee) - Edinburgh - 22 July 2023
A small chaos at the Depot but this is normal on this kind of a job. Really fantastic, helpful Drivers and not so bad shifts managers: most of them are helpful. If You just do What You have to do it is a good place to work.
Pros
People, Salary, Trucks and Vans
Cons
Long hours

Really poor company to work for
HGV Driver (Current Employee) - Liverpool - 27 May 2023
DPDs company Moro should be, ‘If ain’t broke break it’. A company that constantly changes procedures and your working practices with no notice at all. A highly stressful job where drivers are put under enormous pressure to deliver the impossible. Often set up to fail a driver will receive a barrage of phone calls during the day to add to their already enormous work load or to question why something hasn’t been delivered yet. Future employees be aware. There is very high turnover of both drivers and management for a reason.
Pros
Weekly pay
Cons
Stressful

Flexible working
LGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Oldbury, West Midlands - 1 March 2023
Worked as an agency driver firstly and made to feel welcome. Keep your nose clean and stick to the rules and you'll have no issues. If you're looking for basic hours you'll be accommodated as long as you ask before you are allocated a route. Throughout you get free ice creams, burgers, etc as a thank you and at Christmas you get special gifts. Pay is good, but if you want more money you have to put the hours in, which you can get if you ask for. Regular weekend work paid at premium rates.
Pros
Plenty of hours if you want them. Perks throughout the year. On-site canteens at hubs.
Cons
Some trucks are showing signs of ageing

Impersonal well paid but soul destroying
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Hinckley - 23 December 2022
Well paid and lots of being it’s but found personal life is of little consequence and if issues arise in work or at home you’re an inconvenience and find your number will be flagged whatever the reason… you receive no help from management work wise or personal but if a compliant and have the ability to robotically work by command without deviating or using initiative the job is straightforward and rewarding
Pros
Pay
Cons
Unstable

Class one linehaul driver (Current Employee) - Eurocentral Scotland, Glasgow - 13 December 2022
As described above, LGV drivers are well paid with regular bonuses especially at Christmas time it’s clean easy work, only downside is sitting around waiting on late trailers that have been held by the hubs.
Pros
Well paid, easy work, decent holiday allowance
Cons
Unsociable hours

Good place to work
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - West London, Greater London - 9 December 2022
Easy work, mainly trailer swaps. If you stick to the rules you are left to get on with the job. Good bonuses. The work, life balance could be better.

Good pay but zero support from management
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Carlisle - 24 August 2022
Management try sack all their staff. Hgv drivers are constantly targeted and punished for silly rules. Very corporate company it’s gone downhill. Trucks have internal cameras that automatically report you for harsh brakes, rolling over truck limiter and these result in file notes/disciplinary proceedings
Cons
Long hours. No work life balance

HGV Class 1 Driver / Senior Driver (Current Employee) - Carlisle - 20 August 2022

Cons

Easy work. No job security
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - London / Gatwick Airport - 20 August 2022
I started work as a linehaul Driver in July 2021. Easy, clean work. Some load interaction maybe required depending on your run. Hardest part of the job is reversing onto the doors at the hub. The gaps are very narrow, and there's not a lot of space in front to line yourself up, but it's do-able as long as you take your time. The transport office is massively understaffed. The people there try their best, but there simply aren't enough of them to do the simplest things like answering the phone. Don't expect much support from them. There is a strong culture here that manages people through fear. They discipline drivers at the drop of a hat for the smallest thing. One guy was suspended and eventually sacked because he wasn't wearing his seat belt whilst maneuvering in the yard. Ridiculous right? It feels like they spend a lot of money recruiting and training you then, once you're wearing the red or blue shirt they do whatever they can to sack you. Rules and regulations far exceed legal requirements, so you could face disciplinary action, even when no laws have been broken. Best advice is to listen and learn and keep your head down. The money is good. For me I've never had a week earning less than £1000 (before tax). And sometimes I take home over £1100 after tax depending on my hours. To earn that kind of money you've gotta put in a 60+ hour week and, obviously, put up with all the stuff I've mentioned above. It's actually a decent job. They need to wind their necks in when it comes to disciplinaries, but other than that I can't complain
Pros
Reasonable pay
Cons
Long hours, no support due to procedures and lack of staff in the traffic office

Good company
Linehaul driver class 1 (C+E) (Former Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 6 August 2022
An okay place to work. Pay for the initial 8 hours disappointing. Good money kicks in after 8 hours 45 minutes (due to deducted break) if you are lucky to get more hours.

Fun place at times
Truck Driver (Former Employee) - UK - 23 July 2022
Helpful colleagues, work fast- paced but not too stressful, shifts pretty predictable, but finishing times can vary a bit. Orientation was quick but good. Could have done with more training on handheld scanner gadget.

Easy work, unsociable hours
HGV Class 1 Driver Linehaul. (Former Employee) - Lincoln - 12 June 2022
Generally easy runs, no loading/unloading just backing onto bays. If you don't mind working into or through the night it's a decent job however in peak your hours will increase then can drop to 40 per week with very little notice. Management & planning can be frustrating.

Easy
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Oldbury, West Midlands - 10 June 2022
Easy trunking work, 1 or 2 drops a day. Lots of standby. Depot bays can be alittle tight for less experienced drivers. They rarely answer the phones at the depot so can be hard to communicate if things change.
Pros
Easy and clean
Cons
Never answer phones
