It sucked.
Parcel Sorter/Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) - Swansea, Swansea - 28 November 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by Indeedworking there was horrible, especially for the nightshift. transport from the city Centre to the warehouse would cost you 30-40% of your paycheck and break times were inconsistent at best. the only good thing about was, if you were a student with a max 20 hour work week, you could easily work 2 days and be done with it since they only allow 8 hours per shift. even the good comes with a bunch of bad since, if you can only work 8 hours then you could only work for a max of 16 a week. and usually you'd be so tired afterwards the next day is pretty much gone. so 16 hours of work,30- 40% of pay goes to transport and youre out for 4 days. yeah, no thanks.

Jobs at DPD
Avoid if you can, if your desperate take it but go in with a temporary mindset and leave before they sell you the dream that you can make it there!
Self Employed Courier (Former Employee) - Sittingbourne, Kent - 22 November 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Rubbish job, just simply rubbish! What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Managers and expectations on drivers, unfair compensation and lack of respect! What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Fake love, venomous, lack of care of workers outside of the "employed staff" directly hired by Dpd. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Long gruelling days in any weather( they will send you on the road in any weather your safety is secondary them) as I have seen them do even when there's a weather warning.

AVOID this company
Driver (Former Employee) - Dunstable, Bedfordshire - 17 November 2023
The depot is unorganised, you can’t load your van in good time as the parcels could be anywhere and difficult to find. Long hours too , you have no idea to what time , you’ll be home? Probably looking at a 12hr + day. With a salary, that doesn’t reflect it. It’s winter now and so under no circumstances, lease an electric van as the range, will probably last you just a solitary day. That’s because you’ll be using the heater more as it’s colder& it eat’s into the electric massively. As for the money , well it’s below the minimum wage, once you’ve paid out for the van / fuel etc. Unless you’re going to break your back & work 7 days or deliver even more parcels, in what is an overloaded van. As for support from your so called superiors There’s no empathy, all they care about, is that you are delivering on time. The only time they’ll actually call you, is when you’re not It was obvious they just don’t care. AVOID-

Overworked
Driver (Current Employee) - Dagenham, Greater London - 13 November 2023
You get overworked. Most people at dpd have no work life balance and you literally see people’s health deteriorating. It’s kinda soul drainung. Good for part time not good for long term

Long hours but good pay
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Glasgow, Glasgow - 13 November 2023
Not a diverse company to work for. Do not feel safe in the environment. EDI people are all people of non underrepresent population. How does that portray to those colleagues who are? Good benefits if that’s what matters more than safety.

Stress
Franchisee (Current Employee) - Raunds, Northamptonshire - 29 October 2023
Cant get a straight answer out of them about absolutely anything. Feel like I've been sold a dream. They make it sound so good when you join but in reality it's no where near as good as it seems. Long hours long drives mentally and physically draining.

Long days and some days without work.
Becoming a ODF is not worth it! (Current Employee) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire - 20 October 2023
I’ve been an ODF (Owner Driver Franchise) for 10 months and I’ve not been able to achieve the expected salary due to lack of parcels on my route. In all the time I worked I have had approximately 20 days without work which meant no money earned, especially when you have to fork out £900 per month for van lease and insurance. Do the maths and you will earn less than £10 a hour.

Not great
Shift Manager (Current Employee) - Peterborough, Cambridgeshire - 10 October 2023
Just hard work, long hours, no overtime unless it’s another day, management don’t talk to you which makes it stressful and they mess you about. They expect a lot from everyone but not very good at saying thank you.

Interesting but stresful place
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) - Hedge End - 9 October 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Good work/life balance. As there is 8 hour shifts every night What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Lack of workers. Poor management. The best workers are expected to do more than others and get the same pay/benefits What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Friendly and nice more or less. The team work itself are not so good.

10 days off only a year
Self Employed Courier (Former Employee) - Liverpool - 2 October 2023
Good wages to a degree a lot of work fast paced and office staff demanding to much in times. Only 10 days off a year is not enough for the job. Can be a very stressful place to work
Pros
Wages okay
Cons
Time off is limited

Good salary, working continental shifts. Paid bonuses depending on management reviews and performance. Management could be more hands on and engage with employees.

Overall decent
Delivery Assistant (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 16 September 2023
Long Hrs but rewarding work, every day is different. Pay is not too bad but could be better considering the load you get throughout the day and the drops you have to do.

Good Job, Good Pay
Multi Drop Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Tannochside, Glasgow - 4 September 2023
I enjoyed my time at DPD, I worked as an ODF (Owner Driver Franchise). The pay was excellent, sometimes over £200 per day. It was very tiring however; hard work and long shifts.
