Depending on which service you work for can be great. Leisure & Sport is one of the better services to work for. Good team members and all pull together when needed
Pros
Good to work for
Cons
depends on contracted hours can be early start or late finish but not really a con
More and more work being piled on less and less workers but generally a good place to work even if managment lack brains to be in such a high position.
Ok place to work, people on the ground all try their best, but management don't know their jobs and don't care about those below them, look elsewhere if you want to advance.
Pros
Ok pay
Cons
management
I loved this job, it was jso st time for a change for me. Was lack of organisation I didn’t like Rotas were always different so sometimes you didn’t know wot u were working the next week until a Friday after shift. Which made it hard to make appointments dentist etc which. U would then need time off for.
Pros
Meeting new people
Cons
Unusual work shifts bad organisation of Rotas
If you have values and stick up for yourself in the workplace then D&G Council May not be the employer for you. Very much “jobs for the boys” and if your face fits you will go far. If not, you’ll be getting appearance money and not at the best rate.
Pros
Stable enough
Cons
Management don’t know their people
A Good place to work and it offers a good pension scheme that can be paid into. And can iver good benifits to progress up the career ladder with training
Pros
Pension
Cons
Cut backs
The problem lies with management apart from that its a good place to work. good pension and company benefits to be had. Most contracts are temp contracts which isnt ideal.
This used to be a great place to work
but after 25 years i would like to try something new,
feels like i am turning into my dad !
the council are trying very hard to make changes,
but have their system that seems like hard work to me.
Though they ask for fresh ideas knowbody !!
wants to stand up to the plate,
and accept responsibility .
Pros
meet lots off interesting people and sights when driving around dumfries & galloway
Cons
time you either have too much or not enough in the day.
Good learning experience you learn quickly due to the pace of the work. Nice region to work in can involve lots of traveling .
Help us improve!
