Productive, busy, fun environment and I looked forward to going into work every day.

What is the best part of working at the company?Great people to work with, all very friendly and helpful. Everyone has a very solid work ethic and teamwork is top notch. Very busy environment which makes the working day fly in. No real stress involved unlike other companies/organisations I have worked for in the past. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? No real stress as previously mentioned although volumes of work tend be high with pressures of time to complete tasks but usually doable and help is given if asked for. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The work environment is friendly and for many jobs there is a lot of flexibility for both working hour and being able to do Hybrid working if requested. As with any organisation this will also depend on the Business Requirement and can change at any given time. Smart, casual dress is also allowed. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Very busy with many different and varied tasks to perform with constant evaluation of what should take priority at any time throughout the day.Colleagues are extremely helpful at all times, including those from other departments you come into contact with.

Your face has to fit

The council has really strict absence policies but they seem to only get applied to people who aren't in the "in group". I was taken down a disciplinary for being absent 3 times in 6 months - all for an ongoing condition they knew about and refused to reasonably acommodate. Then they decided they'd been paying me too much and clawed back 2 years worth of overpayments.

Pros

pension

Cons

horrible middle management

Decent place to work

Decent benefits to working here, but too much office politics and middle management are awful. Micro manage yet are still totally ineffective. Draconian absence procedures, particularly if your face doesn't fit.

Pros

Hybrid/Flexi working, job security, decent pay depending on your role

Cons

Useless middle management, awful office politics

Demanding job role in difficult environment

To keep it short, Dundee City Council are a fair employer. The schools are dedicated to teaching and value their teachers, but inevitably there are behavioural difficulties in a minority of the pupils. This causes problems which are not effectively handled by upper management and can lead to a lot of stress.

Oh no, another day

Used to be a great place to work, going downhill rapidly. Internal issues with management not listening and burying their heads in the sand. Not the job it once was sadly

One of the best Jobs I've ever had

Everyone was really friendly and helpful when I first started. I always know what I had to do and my work colleagues where always there to lend a hand which I appreciated. Overall a really great work environment with great people and flexible hours which is a plus

Pros

Works on Flexi time

I really enjoyed my time there. Staff and clients were so nice.

I done various shifts there from earlies, lates, nightshift and many sleepovers. Good rates of pay at that time. Extra shifts when needed. Fun place to work

Pros

Was free lunches for a while

Cons

Can be non stop and so busy

Stressful job, but relatively well paid.

Well paid but could be stressful. I worked three shifts on and two off. There was plenty of time off with five weeks holiday and ten lieu days each year.

productive

Very difficult for a driver to get their holidays. Decent environment to work. Can be very clique and don't get involved with said clique. You can be moved between the Marchbanks and Baldovie depots. Hours are very good.

Your just a number

Dundee city council is well paid and has lots of advantages to offer its staff but its hard on the staff no one is important your just a number you get in trouble for the slightest thing even outside work when off duty as you have to represent the company in the care sector its only sscos that mattert they get away with a lot like speeking to residents like rubbish scos don't matter in any way only to take the blame when the sscos have messed up which has ruined a lot of people's careers and some life's I wouldn't even recommend putting a relative in one of the care homes as its not as safe as you think

Flexible working friendly

I feel Dundee City Council is very good for flexible working. I have now worked for them for 20 years therefore that must tell its own story. Every department is different.
