Terrible Company
Billing Assistant (Former Employee) - Cardiff - 4 October 2023
Overworked, underpaid, underappreciated and consistently battling managers who would rather destroy your mental health than do anything remotely constructive or better for the company.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Long hours, terrible pay, terrible benefits, highly stressful, highly monitored work, sometimes need to take on the roles of other departments without training.

Great people in my team, supportive and easy to get along with. As with all humans, personalities vary but overall nice environment and people in the company

Poor management.
Meter Reader (Former Employee) - Wales - 14 August 2023
Bad pay. Bad management. Wouldn’t recommend working here. Managers micro manage everything and do not trust you with anything at all. Expect the world for pittance.

Good place to learn about HR
HR Administrator (Former Employee) - Nelson, Caerphilly - 3 August 2023
Really enjoyed working with the team. Learnt a lot about the HR role and the water industry. Workload can be heavy but the teamwork helps to get through everything.

Best employer I ever had

All I can say is that if you get the opportunity to work for DCWW take it and never leave! Excellent pay and prospects, good working conditions and great colleagues

Outdated and Out of Touch
Maintenance Technician (Former Employee) - Anonymous - 27 June 2023
Benefits such as sick pay, pension contributions and works van are all good perks although management will threaten to prevent vans being taken home if they are not having their own way. Pay is outdated for qualified tradesman, £10k year behind elsewhere, hopefully the exodus of staff recently will stimulate a well needed restructure. The job itself is excellent, work is varied and can be rewarding.

Good company to work for.
Visitor Attraction Staff (Former Employee) - Pontypool, Torfaen - 28 April 2023
A good company to work for in the main. Excellent on the job training and a solid work culture. Some senior managers are less pleasant than others however.

Over worked
Analyst (Former Employee) - Newport, Newport - 24 April 2023
Terrible place to work. Management fail to listen to feedback. Very much a blame culture posing as responsibility. No autonomy in lower roles. No progression in role unless your face fits.
Pros
Good salary
Cons
Toxic blame culture

Very Productive and Good Company to Work For
Water Technician (Current Employee) - Pembrokeshire - 15 April 2023
A very good company to work for with fair salary and company benefits as well. Management just needs to consider work life management of employees at times so that they cannot be overloaded with work which leads to stress. Apart from that I can say it is a good company to work for .
Pros
Uniform Provided with Yearly Bonuses
Cons
Salary is fair but needs to be reviewed and increased.

Toxic
Apprenticeship (Former Employee) - Hereford, Herefordshire - 5 April 2023
Toxic place to work, very unhelpful when off work due to wit related issues. Management are awful and have no management skills. They think they can do what they want because it’s a big company to work for. The people in Hereford do not like the fact they work for a Welsh company

Shambolic
Process Operator (Former Employee) - Wales - 30 March 2023
Worked for the company for 4 months. I really feel sorry for the operators, I was “trained” by somebody who started 1 month before me! 99% of the managers don’t care, if they don’t know the answer to your issue then they’ll just ignore you until someone else addresses it, and then try an belittle you in front of others! Good luck contacting payroll if you get underpaid…..
Pros
Works van
Cons
Call outs, lack of tools, lack of training, disregard for safety

Draining Job
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) - Cardiff, Cardiff - 27 March 2023
Low paid for the rubbish you have to deal with. The job is very draining and demanding, expected to do a lot for a small wage. Not very supportive staff. Disappointed as expected more from a big company like Welsh water. Much happier in my new role.

Friendly and productive
Payment Services Officer (Current Employee) - St Mellons - 25 March 2023
Great company to work for! Always room for profession and the company pushes for progression if you want it and will do everything they can to move you around internally. Yearly bonus. Free parking.

Something different every day
Meter Reader (Current Employee) - Newport, Newport - 1 March 2023
Great place to work. I enjoy the flexibility getting to travel to different places every day . Getting to interact with customers face to face is enjoyable and a nice change of pace from previous call centre roles

Silent vicous assassins
Customer Advisor (Former Employee) - Cardiff, Cardiff - 8 February 2023
Where to begin ? I worked here and it has left me reeling The work is monotonous and stressful . I had a panic attack when working here and was told it could be a mark against my probation if I didn't continue. Speaking of probation loads of people fail it as they're constantly looking for reasons to get rid of you if you do the slightest thing wrong.A number of my colleagues would go for chats with management never to be seen again. The pay is bad and it is full of egotistical managers who have no understanding of life. Avoid at all costs.
Pros
None
Cons
Everything

Terrible job and terrible management
Customer Service Advisor - Temporary (Former Employee) - St Mellons, Cardiff - 5 February 2023
Interview promised a different role, upon starting training found out I was lied to about the job role, once fully trained had little to no support from management. Many roles being made redundant and many staff leaving for other jobs during my time there, which made me question the workplace culture if so many were trying to leave if they weren’t losing their jobs.

Great people but reactive
Programme Leader (Former Employee) - Cardiff - 27 January 2023
Genuinely nice people and a decent company to work for. High degree of focus on operational business rather than key supporting functions. Maybe haven't quite cracked hybrid working with the few feeling that they are carrying the many.
Pros
People, Ceo, clear mission
Cons
Pay below average, tough to get timely decisions

Good benefits but lacks in other areas
Project Coordinator (Former Employee) - Cardiff - 10 January 2023
The business was pretty slow with implementing change unless it was significant change such as potential redundancies - in that case they could improve with their delivery.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Felt very disjointed

Dynamic and challenging operational environment
Process Scientist (Current Employee) - South East Wales - 3 December 2022
Very challenging environment where operational activities change quickly due to the nature of the business which enables employees to gain experience and knowledge quickly. However, a lack of clear operational strategy from senior management makes it very difficult prioritise workload. Local managers are very supportive and make their best attempts to deal with these changing priorities so teams can thrive. Generally there is a positive culture at an operational level but there has been a lot of finger pointing and blaming of individuals when there have been issues and abnormalities. The business is taking steps to resolve this. The work-life balance is not great in operational teams due to the demanding nature of the standby system, which for some employees is not rewarded particularly comprehensively.
Pros
Operating in a very flexible Hybrid working model, car allowance for some employees, opportunity for some employees to earn overtime at enhanced rates
Cons
Salaries across the business are not comparable for similar roles, employees may not be able to leave standby rota, standby payments are generally low
