Dyfed Powys Police
Dyfed Powys Police Employee Review
Badly run force
Police Officer (Former Employee) - Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire - 18 October 2021
The force has always struggled with its leadership, and the blame culture makes this a very difficult organisation to work for, where management do not coach or support but target those that challenge the status quo. Plus the rural nature of the force and the limited opportunities for advancement depending on where you are first stationed, can have quite an impact on family life.
Cons
Poor work life balance

Overworked and underpaid
Police Constable (Former Employee) - Powys - 13 July 2022
An organisation that is currently not run properly and without clear leadership. The priorities that DPP have are not in line with public safety and do not provide the service needed by the public. This is as a result of not only this organisation but the agencies the police need to work with not caring about their jobs (eg social workers) leaving their clients or people they serve/support in less than ideal situations resulting in police getting involved in situations they do not need and shouldn’t be involved in.
Pros
Good colleagues
Cons
Long hours, underpaid for several years, staff welfare not considered, no respect from bosses or the public

A good team.
Police Constable (Former Employee) - Haverfordwest - 8 January 2019
I thoroughly enjoyed most aspects of my time as a serving Police Officer. I felt I was a valuable part of a team and the camaraderie may be what I miss the most of all.
Pros
Teamwork, colleagues, opportunities for humour.
Cons
Gradual erosion of powers and responsibilities.
