I worked as a Linguist Advertising Monitor for nearly 3 years. The pay was ridiculously low (even the interviewer said she was embarrassed to utter the salary). The colleagues make up for the lack of excitement in the job. It is like working in a factory in a chain .. they even count how many minutes you go to the toilet. My colleagues and I all had Masters Degrees and were under Team leaders that were hardly College qualified. The only positives of this place are that, well, you can jump to a better job and that your working time is respected and you're not asked for over-time.
Environment among co-workers
Salary, depressing day to day
The work in advertising monitoring is very boring: don't think for one minute that you will be using the languages you are proficient in. The work was routine and dull. Work colleagues were very nice. After a few weeks funding had been reduced for the role and many were made redundant
Nice work colleagues and pleasant offices
Long commute, short breaks, activity tracker monitoring how you filled your day
As an Advertising Monitor, day to day I work on analysing various adverts and inputting all the important materials extracted into a database that is then sent to their clients. This process is done for competitor intelligence and to see if the target audience for the adverts are being hit effectively. The job can be quite tedious at times as it is very repetitive, but the staff and management help this.
Lovely people, friendly atmosphere, good bonuses
Tedious work, low pay
Extremely hot office, otherwise nice facilities. The people who work there come from all walks of life and from every country imaginable so it makes for a very interesting environment. Managers are a little funny with how many minutes you spend on the toilet but other than that aren't too unreasonable, There isn't great opportunity in advancing any of your work skills, other than accuracy in handling data.
Nice breakout environments, but if possible even warmer than the office.
As stated, a very very hot office.
The company was only interested in making money and used systems so old they were no longer fit for purpose. They tried to engage staff by forcing them to join in with themed days whether they wanted to or not. The Head of Site was very autocratic and every decision had to go through her. Team-leaders were given little authority and were not able to make a decision without first checking with their manager.
Long hours with low pay, low moral
