Okay place to work

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Decent not great place, pay is ok but let down by unrealistic pick targets and poor communication - on holiday request, shift times ect from management.

Great job

What a fantastic job...all work planned well in advance..no hassle from management..just left alone to get on with it..only down side was the treatment of tramper motors..mainly agencies so the damage was bad.

Ok to work at

Put under pressure often but generally it's not a bad place to work and im happy to be at stobarts, planners are very friendly, been here over 2 years and a uniform would be nice but apart from that I have no grumbles.

Pros

A good place to start if you new to hgv

Cons

Taken for granted, your replaceable.

Fine

Work was decent. Individual people can be alright but most of the upper management are a pain to deal with. Got lucky as the depot was out of the way and we were left to it but I can imagine the larger depots are a nightmare

Treated like a number

Awful place to work for, head of site Geoff darbyshire was the worst person in the world to work for, very rude no respect treated and spoke to people like objects rather than humans. Liars throughout only to try benefit themselves

Pros

None

Cons

Lying, deceitful people seem to make it upwards

It’s Ok

Planning department mismanagement is probably biggest headache, other than that they treat you like a human being and take into consideration your needs.

Nice place to work at

Trunking work, pretty clean and easy.Management are ok.Culture can be more professional.Overall I'd say it is not perfect, money can be better and planners can be more attentive. Not the worst place to work at.

Pros

Easy clean work

Cons

Trucks are often tarnished

Don't

Wages are always wrong, can't contact anyone with regards pension or wages, they keep you in the dark. But expect you to do all the work. If you do want to work for them . Join a Union. Otherwise it's a losing battle. They are not interested in their staff. Say anything bad about them and you are black balled. Best stay clear.

Pros

None

Cons

Can't contact anyone regards wages and pensions.

Great work place

Working there is fun, enjoyable and rewarding. R ally enjoy my time there. No one sits high and mighty on their job title. Drivers are mostly great to work with and speak to. Some are like big children who hide behind their contracted hours. Drivers willing to put the work in definitely get rewarded and favours returned. Management just ask you to do your job. No one holds mistakes against you. Training isn't amazing but mistakes are corrected and you get instruction not shouted at. Their are clicks but no one treats you different if you're not in one.

Friendly, enjoyable place to work.

Friendly atmosphere and helpful colleagues. New equipment. Plenty of training and CPC courses. Great facilities. Discounted food or free food at HQ. Hardest part of the job is dealing with security and forklift drivers with attitude at customer locations

Pros

Overtime, friendly

Cons

Low pay, long hours

Avoid

Expect everything out of you for the lowest pay, they will plan you to max your hours, you think your going home when you have done your work, you go into office all packed up ready to go, they then give you another run. When you say you don’t want to do it they start arguing with some bad attitude. No consideration for our time off.

Work went quiet so they got rid of me

Poorly ran from top to bottomNo night staff manning the office and when your shift starts at 8pm can’t get keys for unitTrailers hardly ever ready or none available Management clueless and lairs The only Positive was the two day induction went towards cpc hours

Pros

None

Cons

Long hours, poor management, planners average

Easy life

Good company to work for. Get paid more than what a lot of people believe, even day drivers can make a decent wage.Great banter with you colleagues, specially other drivers. Can some times have disagreements with office colleagues but usually resolved quickly. Easy life majority of the time

Pros

Easy work. Great banter with colleagues. Decent wages

Cons

Can't really think of any.

You have good days and bad days

Titles says it all.You might love it you might hate it.Just got for it and approach with the right attitude.Good place for new passes. Job is varied and no two days the same.

It's a good place to work, learn and earn some money

It's a good place to work. You have a nice group of drivers and you can learn new stuff daily. The managers are ok, but some if the planers are useless. The jobs are not very difficult.

Pros

Easy jobs and allows you to get a lot of experience

Cons

Some of the planers.

Very knowledgeable team

Great place to learn from an experienced team. Every day is a challenge. Positive team and managers. Pay is poor for what you are expected to do. Weekends are a must due to the type of work involved.

Shocking place to work, managers are shocking and the senior team just blame everyone for there mistakes

The management are shocking they blame everybody for the management’s mistakes. The last three years were the worst being moved from one site to another. Being managed by bullies yes I do mean that there is a very strong bulling culture at Eddie stobarts

Pros

Some of the planners were great and we had a laugh but the company in its self isn’t the best

Cons

Stay away, they hire people who couldn’t plan there way home at the end of the shift

Fairly relaxed

Not as bad as some people make out . Some of the vehicles need burning but there are some new ones. Plenty of overtime which makes up the low basic wage .
