Eddie Stobart Employee Review
Great work place
Operations Assistant (Current Employee) - Sittingbourne, Kent - 12 September 2023
Working there is fun, enjoyable and rewarding. R ally enjoy my time there. No one sits high and mighty on their job title. Drivers are mostly great to work with and speak to. Some are like big children who hide behind their contracted hours. Drivers willing to put the work in definitely get rewarded and favours returned. Management just ask you to do your job. No one holds mistakes against you. Training isn't amazing but mistakes are corrected and you get instruction not shouted at. Their are clicks but no one treats you different if you're not in one.

Easy work, terrible organization
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Sittingbourne, Kent - 16 June 2023
The work is easy as no tipping or loading at all. Pay is not great, I would not take a penny less. I am on the highest salary for drivers too. The fleet is embarrassing as all the vehicles are getting trashed and not looked after at all. The managers don’t give a monkeys about the drivers and definitely don’t care about progression within the company. Ok to start a career in Hgv driving but not a place to stay at

Enjoyable
HGV Class 1 Driver (Agency) (Current Employee) - Sittingbourne - 10 May 2023
Been here a year and have enjoyed every shift despite not being in “the gang” that get the good runs, long shifts or are able to drive the newer units. Relaxed. Friendly place. Office staff good for a laugh and good at planning work, typically at 9:45hrs. Driver trainers reasonable and hang about like H&S advisors, watching what you do (which is fine). Good spread of locations however, I seem to get stuck with stores inside the M25 but on the rare occasion have been allowed to venture to Portsmouth and Nuneaton. Maps provided. Plenty of time for vehicle checks. You are responsible for your load security and there are plenty of straps and bars to use. Plenty of room to make a hash of any easy reverse 😀. Some drivers leave defects for others to sort and the office could do with updating fuel cards as many do not work. Occasional purge on vehicle cleanliness. Free Wifi if you’re at the depot. Access to discounted food. Taken through an extensive SSoW pack before starting. Will not let you out with a LST or DD trailer unless you are Stobart trained. I’m trained elsewhere but that doesn’t count.
Pros
Excellent atmosphere. Nice Work. On site workshop
Cons
Short shifts. Not the best runs most of the time.

Great for experiencr. Low, low, low wages
Class 1 Driver Days (Current Employee) - Sittingbourne, Kent - 4 February 2021
I started working for Stobarts based in Sittingbourne on the Morrisons Supermarket contract. The work is easy enough. Locate truck, couple up the trailer, drive to the supermarket and wait until they've tipped and reloaded the trailer. Drive back to the yard and, if there's enough time, do it again. Word of warning... The pay is insultingly low. Day rates are a staggering £9.00 per hour. In fact, the guys who fill the shelves in the stores earn more money than an artic driver. In order to earn a reasonable living wage you need to put in a tonne of hours. The trucks are old, high mileage and not in the best condition. Defects are common. If you need to gain class 1 experience this is a great stepping stone. You'll learn a lot about reversing and manoeuvring in tight spaces (some of the yards are extremely challenging) However, if you want to earn reasonable pay, get a job stacking shelves. You will earn more.
Pros
Gaining ecperience. Good group of fellow drivers
Cons
Truly rubbish pay
