Fairly good
Engineer (Current Employee) - Gloucestershire - 13 January 2022
There are definitely worse places to work. Work/home lines can become blurred, but there is a feeling that they do try to do right by their staff. It is a collaborative rather than competitive working environment, which makes for a more pleasant working experience.

Fun to work at a field engineer
SMART METER ENGINEER (Former Employee) - London East, Greater London - 4 October 2021
Fun to work at a field engineerI really enjoyed my time at EDF they are training is really good and they always make sure that you but up-to-date with all regulations and rules regarding your work there is a A lot of support available if you are stuck or not sure anything the downside to this job is that the upper management above your manager only care about numbers and there is an always room to climb the ladder and earn top dollar
Pros
If you schedule your jobs properly then you can Almost always be home early

disregard for field staff
Smart Meter Engineer (Former Employee) - Bexleyheath, Greater London - 14 September 2020
I have a lot to say but will say the minimum.
very exciting at the beginning. once on the field they expect you to do 4 duals regardless of how much time each job takes.
Managers keep pressuring for job to be done.
even though EDF claims to be safety orientated but this is not what they make you do.
Maybe i was unfortunate to have an area manager who just wanted meters on the wall.
no job security. anything happens they throw the engineer under the bus. Pay is highly dependent on bonus which again means meters on the walls.
I have left after more than 2 years whilst i thought this would be the job i keep. Left and much happier where i am. get paid more and dont have to just put meters on the wall- here IT IS about safety.
unprofessional managers and area managers. sometimes disregard for safety just to get the job done.
Pros
Training
Cons
pressure / unsafe advice / stressing field staff / no job security

Full of lies and nobody listens
Dual Fuel Engineer (Current Employee) - Unknown - 8 December 2019
Management don't care about your personal well-being or mental health, constant promise of lots of overtime and bonuses since day 1 few years in and still not much overtime or bonus
LISTEN TO YOUR STAFF!!! WHY DO YOU THINK SO MANY OF YOUR EMPLOYEES HAVE LEFT AND GONE TO OTHER COMPANIES!!!

Productive and Educational Workplace
Engineering Apprentice (Former Employee) - Somerset - 15 September 2019
During my time at EDF, I was tuaght how to manage the stress of a working enviornment and shown how to work well in a team and independantly. The typical day consisted of different problem solving tasks and introductions of different areas within the company. The workplace was a very pleasant place to be a part of as it was very welcoming and had a warm atmosphere. The most difficult part was having to push yourself to work things out that are outside of your comfort zone however all the activities were fun and enjoyable.
