Enjoyable driving and delivery work let down by poor pay
Multi Drop Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Swindon - 10 July 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Being your own boss. Once you work out how to load your vehicle efficiently and become familiar with the postcode areas of deliveries, it can be quite an enjoyable role. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Duty managers are almost impossible to speak to for assistance, unless you are both at the depot or if they answer their mobile. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? You're very much left on your own after the induction. Any communication with the duty managers is usually only in the morning to confirm you are ready for route allocation. The other drivers tend to keep to themselves - there isn't really any culture. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Very busy typically, no time for a real break although you do get the option to allocate one on the route. This tended to reduce my time to deliver every package to the point where I would finish at around 7pm some days.

If you want to work for almost free, with little to not value pay
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Cheshire - 26 June 2023
I worked for Hermes for over a year, quite, and 2 years later return to work for Evri, with no change in reasons I left earlier. The pay per parcel is ridiculously low compared to the competition. You spend 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours at the depot sorting parcels on the dirty floor. all dirt goes in your car/van/clothes/parcels. embarrassing to hand over a dusty big brand parcel to a clean customer. Spent three months not being paid or underpaid. there is no telephone contact with the admin/hr/invoicing/finance department. the email response is a generic scripted response that gives false dates for resolution, then when the date comes, you get an apology, then another date... each email takes two to three days to come. the delivery app is still using an outdated CoPilot-Live mapping system that sorts parcels by postcode in alphabetical order, so it can skip house numbers making delivery time inefficient. there is no regulating the number of parcels per round, there are quiet days and busy days. some delivery addresses are so spaced out that delivering 50 parcels can take 5 hours (1.5 hours sorting and packing + setting times on the app + 30 to first address + delivery process) you only have 1 option to change the delivery time. fuel is your problem, no car maintenance subsidies, and you are responsible for scheduling your own breaks. Currently haven't been paid for 2.5 months (june23), very little training and verification process...
Pros
you choose what days and times you want to commit to working. daily insurance
Cons
unpredicteble long hours. bad courier customer service, terreble paye management and resolutions, unreasonaby low parcel prices, delapidates your car a lot...
