What is the best part of working at the company?The people at Explore are the loveliest people I have ever worked with. I never had a day where I didn’t enjoy my work or didn’t want to go in because my colleagues were always so supportive. Directors and senior management always get stuck in and are approachable which I have found to be rare in most companies. It made for a lovely working atmosphere and it was incredibly hard to leave.What is the most stressful part about working at the company?I can’t say I felt much stress to be able to answer this. They are very open to change and ideas for improvement are welcomed and encouraged from all levels of the company. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?I loved it. It’s very positive with a caring and tailored approach to staff so you feel like you are really valued and supported, not just a number. It is a really friendly atmosphere. What is a typical day like for you at the company?There is no typical day at Explore! No two days are ever the same!

Good balance

I find working here very good , I’m happy in my work , you have great opportunities to progress through the company and excel they give great training and that’s ongoing , you are provided with all your ppe and load securing equipment, ( regularly safety checked ) . Any problems you have someone is only a phone call away , where someone has tips or information regarding your task .

Excellent company to work for, look after drivers constantly, help support always there.Hours are long but you know what you sign up for! Fleet constantly changing. Not a bad company to work for.

Drivers get the equipment they need and if we struggle there is the option of calling mentors/management for assistance, people are forgiven for mistakes made whilst learning - as long as you don't make them twice. Hours can be long but I knew that when I took the job, but fellow drivers are good laugh and supportive which helps.

Local lads seem to get finished earlier than tramper especially on Fridays

Great place to work

I started at Explore on a Fixed Term Contract and was greatful to be offered a permanent position. Working in the team I do means I get to see all the hard work that goes into everything at Explore. The management are really supportive, the work is enjoyable and no two days are the same.It has been lovely to watch the company grow so much in the last few years.

good supportive manager.good (enough) pay rates.only real negative is that they don't pay sick pay.paid breaks.they only contact you when there are issues,or for your vehicle service etc.

It’s all about who can brown nose and feed the voodoo the most yo the team leaders. Trainers always on there phones. If u ask any questions they tell the team leaders that your not suited to the rules.

Poor pay for the job

Kits good, new trucks are plenty. The compensation for that is the poor pay. You'll need to work 13-15 hours everyday to see anything like a respectable pay packet. So work-life balance is poor.

Horrible place

Explore on the whole is a reasonable place to work. But there are so many grassers who work there especially Swandicote back standers up the bosses back side and the bosses want an easy life. In my opinion they are bullies who get away with it.

Amazing Company

I cannot recommend this company enough. I was there on a temporary contract for 4 months and loved every minute of it. I was so gutted when my time came to and end. The hybrid working pattern worked perfectly for me and you were provided with everything you needed to do your job to the highest standard. The training was great, i was shown exactly what to do and how, there was always someone there if i needed help too. The team i was in were the best bunch of people i have ever had the pleasure of working with. Thank you guys for everything.

Mixer driver

Job role is mixer driver Operative but you don't do much driving. Could be working on one site going back and forth all day. Long hours but no overtime premium. The security guards get better rates.

Very good to work for. I personally would recommend this company. They treat you as an individual. Train you to a high standard and generally respect your input. Rewards are good rate of pay. Good uniform. I was happy to work there.

All the gear but no idea. Management is a joke. All the people who had the drivers back are forced out. If your face fits you will be fine. Watch you're back as no one is a friend there.

Great job for a driver

the job is one for life. No stress, not pushed, a lot of time sat being paid for nothing. Line managers are good depending on the depot you are based at (Worksops depot manager is a waste of time, he talks down to you and is very patronising). Senior management haven't got a clue about transport and will run the company to the ground. Apparently the senior driver manager was a barmaid and now is in charge of transport. Easy to get hours, average 75 per week. Trucks good, Can personalise.

Dont do it

Senior management dont have a clue and pull the wool over the MD's eyes, same senior management that destroyed select plant now destroying explore, rather than developing own staff buy in talent who destroy the company from within. Dont listen to staff and think you cant see what there up to. HR arent capable of doing there job and encourage the discrimination of other employees.

Wish I'd never left.

I was on the 4 on 4 off shift and the only reason I left was because the salary wasn't great and there was no opportunity to pick up any overtime. I've regretted leaving though and wish I'd just gone on to the mon - fri shift instead. It's a superb job with great kit, everything is super legal, there is a very good training programme in place, treated and spoken to with respect and manners. All in all, a very good job indeed, I've been driving for 15 years and I've done most types of driving jobs, I know what I'm talking about and you won't go wrong with Explore.
